Re: lt1 96 trans am firebird

LT1 needs LT1 accessories. And even among the balancer spacing is different. Use the accessories that match the car the engine came out of.

Wow. Your pretty close. If you don't mind sending me a pm with your number, I can text you the pics I took. I don't see any washers or spacers of any kind.

Re: lt1 96 trans am firebird

Camaro/Firebird, Caprice/Impala/Roadmaster, and Corvette all have different accessory setups. The F-body and B-Body setups are the closest to eachother. The vette is very different.

Even among the same body line (F-bodies for example) the 93-95 Hubs are different from the 96 and 97's. This is due to the inclusion of a reluctor ring for the crank position sensor.

Not only are the accessories slightly different, the crank hub depth is different between them. If your engine has the wrong hub, then it could explain why there are spacers on the accessories and why the belts don't line up.

Mine was out of a 93 Z28. Should be the same as the firebird I would think. I'm not sure if they changed through the years though.

There are minor differences between model years and platforms. The water pumps between all three platforms are different. The crank hubs are different. The transmissions are different.

Basically, the easiest way to complete the swap is to find out what year/platform engine you have and go with parts for that. Especially considering it sounds like the OP's setup was adapted from something else. There were no spacers for the accessories, so someone used something slightly different.

You should really not post your phone number publicly on the internet.

Unless you want cold calls from ad agencies. In which case, please continue.

Re: lt1 96 trans am firebird

Get it fixed? I dont recall having any spacers behind my acc bracket.
Do all of the accessories line up with each other and just not the crank pully?
