I have an 89 iroc-z 305 tpi with upgraded ignition true duals and slp .480 lift cam turbo 350 with small stall and 2.73 rear. Guy wants me to do side job on his 74 nova swapping a sbc to bbc and as payment would give me a LT1 with auto trans wiring harness computer even has fuel tank with pump for the swap. It's supposedly out of 95-97 z28. Would it be worth putting in my 89 as far as power and ecomomy? Was planning on putting the 700r4 back in it to be nicer on street before this came along.

 

Hell yes as long it's running condition throw cam in it and stall
They make more power due to intake and heads only bad thing is need to upgrade optispark

Do search and look on YouTube etc should explain a lot and should be easy decision to make

 

Done it worked out great opti is a pile tho

 

I thought about LT4 hot cam and ignition upgrade if I did it. Was thinking the only thing I know I would need is electric to mechanical box for speedo. Haven't done much research to see what else is needed.

 

Upgrading to msd I here fixs that issue but idk

 

How does cooling system work on LT1 to 3rd gen? Doesn't it have reverse flow?

 

Same as any it's just reverse flow need nothing special
