89 IROC LS3 Started

Well after a year of waiting and slowly getting parts and money together finally started this deal.

So far got a LS3 and 6 speed out of a 2011 Camaro SS.

Heads are off and getting ported etc.
Deciding on Cam but since the goal is to autocross this thing going with something a bit fun.
Will put long tube headers. Full suspension replacement has arrived. Sub frame connectors as well. Just ordered upgraded brakes from bigbrakeupgrade. Scott is just awesome to work with and very helpful! In the process of getting the parts to upgrade the rear from stock to 3:73 G2 and Auburn Differential plus Moser axles. Checking the clutch to see if I should replace that since it is out (44K) on the car before pull.

Will post more once we get into it more and any issues we run into.

Re: 89 IROC LS3 Started

I just started stripping my 87. Trying to decide between LS2 or LS3, wanting to do a stroker. Still trying to get things together, most likely going auto trans. I had a 2011 ss manual and it was fun, anyway, I look forward to seeing your progress. Is it much different from your standard LS1 swap?

It is slow but steady. The motor is done we had the heads ported and a new cam put in. I found a company in GA that creates everything for the swap. Motor mounts, headers etc etc. Just ordered a McLeod clutch and getting the wiring harness redone to look a bit more professional and not like it was just thrown in. Goal is by summer to be driving.

Also got new brakes all around, axles, suspension, gears and differential.

Nobody in their right mind does that unless they insist on using an LS1 PCM. You're causing your own headaches by choosing to use a 4th gen dash.

maybe a little OT, but is it possible to use a ls3 engine harness and pcm? and skip the ls1 harness?
