Need help with 6.0 swap in 84 z28

Hello guys,

I recently got a good deal on a 2000 6.0 out of a silverado 2500hd truck. I got the motor, harness, and computer.

I would like to make the car fuel injected (orginal carb.). I have read the thread about the 4.8,5.3, and 6.0 swaps, i was wondering if someone could give me some insight as far as fuel pump and lines, and computer wiring.

Im going to put a t56 in it and the car has a 4th gen axle in it.

Is it possible to take the fuel tank (with the pump) and lines out of a 4th gen and put it in my 84? Or is there an easy way?

Where do i begin as far as wiring, ive never wired a computer in before. Where should I mount it?

This would get more replies in the LSx sub-forum where it belongs.
Just get a Walbro 255-LPH pump and put that in your stock tank.
Then get a Wix 33737 filter with built-in pressure regulator, same as the LS1 'vettes used.

I suggest spending alot of time reading in the LSx swap forum. You'll have a lot of questions answered and gain some great ideas!

Cast iron heads? If so, it has the longer flange crank (same as SBC/BBC relative to the bell housing mount). Something to be aware of as you plan for the transmission.

Your info doesn't jive. 88's didn't originally have a carb. But, cosmick has the correct answer as far as the fuel pump.

See my first comment. You're probably looking at a custom flywheel.

No. You can mount the entire 4th gen tank in the 3rd gen, but not the 4th gen pump/pickup in a 3rd gen tank. Do what cosmick suggested - that's the easiest route.

Read the swap sticky and links within it. You're basically wiring power from the car to the 6.0 harness (and instruments, signals, etc.). If you got the chassis harness from the truck with the fuse/relay box, that, in my opinion, makes it a lot easier.

five7kid, won't an LT style T56 work with the earlier LS truck blocks with the longer crank? I can't recall off the top of my head.

I used the 4thGen tank and pump, made up my own braided hoses (actually pretty easy once you've done a couple)... Both routes suggested work great... I went this way because I got the tank cheap, they included the pump which worked so I came out ahead... Also, getting the 3rd gen tank in and out sucks with that solid filler neck.

LT1 T56 issues stem from the pilot bushing/bearing location and clutch options. If you can solve those then use it

The pilot depth is likely addressed by what you mention. But there is no flywheel to do it with a long crank.
