Engine price too good to be true

While surfing the web looking for camaro parts as I'm always doing I found this guy sell a LT1 and 4L60 he pulled from a camaro. He says the engine is not lock up and the reason for the cheap price is because he dont know much about the engine. I'm kinda worried because of the cheap price, even tho I will over time do a full rebuild of the engine b4 I drop it in my car. Should I be worried or should I be on my way to grab this engine and trans?

Re: Engine price too good to be true

You didn't specify what the asking price is, but getting that from the local self-service salvage yards, $300 for both plus the PCM is realistic. Then a full rebuild probably isn't needed for the engine, probably just a gasket set and a timing set. But it is a good time to install a better cam.
The 4L60E probably does need a full rebuild, especially if it isn't showing signs of a recent one. This is a good time to install a better torque converter.

Re: Engine price too good to be true

Ask questions. If the guy doesn't know much about the engine then that's probably most of the reason that it's going 'cheap'.

On the otherhand, sometimes you just find good deals.
