LSX454 or GMPP BIG BLOCK SAME PRICE

looking at replacing tired 408 sbc with either a big block or LSX ..what is easyest and cheapest to get 600hp..currently running th350 and eaton trutrac 10 bolt...12.87@111mph..

bolting in is no problem...its headers,,p/steer and alternator brackets and pulleys..water hoses,,,radiator necks changed,, currently running a 4 core brass unit and its great

Why not just rebuild and upgrade the 408? Afr 220 head and a 246-250 deg hyd roller will get there

Well if the money is there and you want a crate you should do the lsx. Smaller package fits better and lighter

Else buy a 416 shortblock ls3 deal. Stock ls3 heads and intake with a stage 3 stroker cam will do 620 hp. Much cheaper in the end

Re: LSX454 or GMPP BIG BLOCK SAME PRICE

I have a commodore SS its the LS2 L98 i think version 6.0 litre,,same as the pontiac G8.

i am new to the Ls motors and unfamilliar to buying or building hybrids,,
i can get a new motor built here but parts are a bit expensive being imported and a good 550hp 383 6000rpm sbc will cost $10,000 U.S.

i may run low 12,s

my way of thinking is go with a factory crate engine and keep it maintainance free and reliable and keep it simple and the LSX 454 iron block looks a simple turn key racer.

i could go an LS3 or even a basicly stock LS2 with a $4000 blower like a magnacharger that sits to the side of the head and looks like a big alternator.
i am installing new valve springs on my vortecs and give it another run.
