Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

Its was a great season for the 84 and we for sure kept busy. We were on display at the GM Nationals in the Thirdgen Fbody Display. I also attended a Tours on Tarmac car cruise. It was a very exciting and both exhausting experience of spirited driving. I thankfully was able to maintain pace with a 911 and viper while we were ripping up and down mountain roads averaging 70 mph + . Big brakes was a must.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

The weld rts wheels are almost 1k each . 3030 autosport wheels are around 800 each smh lol. Might have to get the ROH Snypers refinished to compete with these big boys. These brembos fit with room to spare.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

Ended up pulling the trigger on a custom set of Weld S71 wheels. Spoke with them on the phone aboutt the brake setup. The ATS Brembo brakes from the thread that was posted on here, They said they were very familiar with it. Anyway after looking at the bill for the 2 front wheels I cried myself to sleep for 9 weeks till the wheels showed up. Only to find out that they DO NOT FIT. Very upsetting but I am currently working with them on resolving the issue. They will need to cut a new wheel with a higher pad clearance.

added 13mm of washers to clear. Just to see what the issue was

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

Removed the high mount ac since the system had discharged. I installed the ICT billet low mount and its danger close to the steering linkage. Im trying to see what would be the best course of action with out compromising my steering. Shave the arm?

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

I ended up shimming the motor mount on the passenger side to level the motor and raise the compressor up off the linkage.

I think I used some 3/8's washers between the mount and the block. I recall it being fairly easy to do, other than getting my hands down there of course.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

Went down to Ocean City MD for cruise week. For the most part I had a great time. My friend and I were last there in 2017 and we both had different cars. Thankfully we were able to take the same photo again this year. Late afternoon a new F250 hit me and took off from a parking lot. They left a note with a number but they are not willing to give up much info. I am on the hunt for a clean fender for a TA. The dash camera got the whole thing on video while in parking mode so I showed it to the police.

That's not cool at all Jon! What the hell?!

Hopefully you can get this resolved quickly, and not be stuck in paint jail again.

Man - what a jerk! Sorry your car got hit.
What dash cam do you have? Sounds like it might be a good investment for my car.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

Garmin dash cam 67w with constant power. Its cheaper to buy it on amazon than the garmin site. It has parking mode so if you move in front the car it turns on. Thats what saved me here.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

After another round of paint prison my Trans AM is back on the road. The engine bay is in serious need of overhaul. There is baked in paint dust everywhere. I will get to that. Need to do some minor adjustment of the hood, bumper and headlight doors to try and get it back to what it used to be. I had the "factory" decal replaced on the hood along with the previously damaged bumper and fender. Feels good to be behind the wheel again.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

I once again had the opportunity to attend the thirdgen fbody nationals at carlisle. Quite the experience. Very grateful for the votes, the help, and motivation friends, family, and members helped contribute to the overall goal. Got the chance to take my car on the autocross and was very careful to not do any damage. The vehicle before me went into the wall of water barriers. Hopefully with some maintenance we will be driving out to the T/A Nationals.

This heidts kmember has been great. 40,000+ miles of driving and I have no issues with it. I've been using an older Spohn A arm. I had a lot of issues with a newer style, I had a hell of a time installing the springs on the arm with the round spring pocket. I have the car sitting on the lift so I can take pictures of whatever you need.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

that sounds great... i am always curious about other options... i have been using the UMI road race k-member on most of my builds and has worked well, just always curious on how other items work... if you don't mind and could post some pics when you get a chance that would be great

i have been thinking about using the new qa1 spring slider system but their k-member seems a little weak compared to UMI and also in pics the hiedts ... so thinking about matching their system if a different k-member

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

I have not been under my car in a while and your request for photos has allowed me to see some of the issues I need to take care of. Will be taking care of it all when my vacation starts next week. Doesnt seem to be much life left in my motor mounts.

40, 000 Miles is quite the endorsement. I've been on the fence about an aftermarket k-member when I swap my daily. Might have to look into one of the Heidts units.

Re: My own version of a "Recaro T/A"

Getting Things ready to go. Big thanks for help from big brake upgrade for assisting me with my brakes. I ended up needing a shim. The rotor was rubbing against the caliper. I got everything back together and got an alignment. All new steering components, New steering box. While the car drives great you can feel some resistance in the wheel. When I replaced the idler arm I did not put it back in the same spot. Its lower than what it originally was. I assumed it would be set when the alignment was done. I dont know if that has anything to do with it.
