427 LS engine with 4K miles - what is it worth?
You guys & gals that have been actively shopping for LS engines are up on prices better than me. What do you think is the value of my engine if I were to sell it?
Drop this in a full weight 3rd gen and go 125 mph in the 1/4 mile with Krogers grocery gas and never overheat.
Less than 4K miles.
Gen IV 427 iron block with forged 4.125 stroker kit
ARP rod bolts, main studs, and head studs
24x timing conversion
PRC L92 ported heads, stock rockers with trunion upgrade
EPS cam (240 / 256 with 114 LSA)
IWIS timing chain
FAST 102R intake, Nasty billet fuel rails
LS1 F-body oil pan

What brand internals are you running?
Most stroker kits cost the same regardless of displacement. Same goes for machine work. When I was building my motor I debated 416 vs 377 because of cost. When it was all said and done, the 416 would have maybe cost me $600 more for a 4" crank (Confucius say hindsight clear is more now!). A new LS3 crank saved me a few bucks but every other part of the build would have cost the same.
You are in a decent spot since the engine runs and you have proof of its performance. Meaning, the build went well and no one is gambling on a pile of parts that may or may not run. However, its not an LS7 block. That has marketing value despite the fact your motor is the same displacement.
That being said, and not knowing the entire recipe for your motor, it would probably cost $8k to $10k to duplicate that engine (bare minimum but likely more). You probably could net $7k for that setup with the right buyer. Be prepared to accept less, and people on here will say that they can build that engine for $2000. They have no idea. As such, I have had better luck parting engines out. I feel like parts depreciate more when they are assembled (when dealing with hot rod guys). Guys typically have a need for a particular upgrade rather than a whole package. You could part out the top end with ease and likely get someone to buy the short block. In the end, be prepared to be disappointed.

Detailed specs are fuzzy. I didn't build it, I bought it. I believe it is a Scoggin Dickey stroker kit which at the time probably meant SCAT crank and rods and Mahle pistons.

That's Perfectly ok. Scoggin is a reputable LS shop and Scat and Mahle are fine. It would be worse if it were a speed engineering crank with stock rods and speed pro plastic pistons.

Somebody at LS1tech also suggested $7K. That's higher than I ever imagined but I know the cost of things just keeps going up up up with time. I've got a $6500 price tag on it in the Midwest forum. I have a wood crate and a hoist to drop it in somebody's truck. It's just a matter of deciding when it comes out of the car. Unfortunately that's not as easy as it used to be because of my back troubles now.

I think this engine has more to give, just a matter of finding a cam it likes. The cam I have now makes more Hp but the first cam was beast mode with +50 lb-ft more torque on dyno. Wish I had discovered the throttle body problem when I had that cam and it probably would have idled nicely.
