No ignition on LS swap
No ignition on LS swap
Hey. Just wondering if someone can point me in a direction... LS swapped an 85 Berlinetta finally in the process of final wiring and ran into a problem. My problem is at the C100. I know The 2 red wires goes to the battery. & Purple to the starter. My question is about the pink wire. 1) where does this go? 2) I don’t get any power to anything when I turn the key unless I connect this wire to the battery With the 2 red ones. When I put power to the pink wire, the dash lights up. No power to pink. Nothing. And 3) when I did put power to the pink wire via straight from battery, and started the car.. the engine wouldn’t stop until I unplugged the battery cable. Nothing when I tried to turn the key back like a normal car.. what’s up with that? And I thought the pink wire should already have power to it when the key is turned? Why do I have to put power to it to get ignition? It’s a 5.3 red and blue computer. Factory harness re worked. Fused to stock fuse block. Could post pictures if need be.

Re: No ignition on LS swap
The pink wire should only have power in run and crank. If you're hooking it to the battery to get the car to start, that makes sense why the car will not shut off.
You have a big problem, but it is hard to diagnose since what you have isn't stock. We have no idea how anything is connected. I would get the factory manual and start the troubleshooting procedure

i obviously don't know the details of how you hooked up your wiring, but if you look at my posts around #150 in my thread on swapping in a LS3 into my 85 IROC it will give you some indication of how i wired up my C100

Note that you may have some different wiring for your C100. I am also using in this swap a different ECM, etc than you are so likely there will be differences, but this also likely will give you some ideas
A real GM service manual for your camaro would be a good investment if you don't have one. having real schematics for projects like this is very helpful
Good Luck! You will love your LS swap once done!

Re: No ignition on LS swap
The large 12 gauge pink wire is normally powered from one of the large red wires through the ignition switch. You back fed the system when you hooked up pink to battery.
My guess is the ignition switch isn't working, or you don't have power to both red wires. I'm not talking about the tumbler that the key is inserted into. I'm talking about a big electrical switch that is located on top of the steering column.

Re: No ignition on LS swap
Thats what I thought. I have no idea why I don’t have any power at the pink wire... when I turn the key, nothing happens. No dash lights no nothing. But as soon as I put power to the pink wire everything lights up and works? Is there a fuse or anything that gives power to the pink wire when the red ones get power? Could I install a relay to switch power to the pink wire when key turned? Isn’t that the same as a main relay. As for wiring it’s nothing special. 02s coils trans injectors and maf and fused threw the 221. 4 pin relay on fuel pump with power from Red connected pin 9 on ecm. Fuel pump is the only relay I have. 2 orange wire from pcm to constant power (straight to battery). 2 pinks from ecm to switches power. Etc etc.
The pink wire should only have power in run and crank. If you're hooking it to the battery to get the car to start, that makes sense why the car will not shut off.

Re: No ignition on LS swap
It sounds like you have a bigger problem. I would start by checking your fusable links and make sure they are not burned out.
Get a factory manual for your car. You can get them unused from eBay in the $35 range

Re: No ignition on LS swap
Yeah, the pink wire is power for the CCC (computer). It's not fused, and some LS swaps on here don't use it. Check the red wires again. Make sure they lead to the proper pin on your C100, and check the fusable links. This site provides good C100 / C207 diagrams.
