LQ4 going in my 86 Iroc - fuel question.

Hey guys, I have been searching to find the answers and come up with nothing. I want to know if the stock fuel system will support my LQ4 swap. The only mods I am doing this year is Cam and LS1 intake. The goal for this year is to get it in a running. Then next winter I will stock pile parts so I can swap the rar end, upgrade fuel system and full exhaust with turbo kit. Thanks guys.

Cheers guys

No dice. At the minimum you'll want to upgrade the fuel pump. If the LQ4 is stock a walbro 255 will work fine without having to upgrade wiring.

I am only going to be.stock for a year, until I got enough for my turbo setup. My goal is 700-800 hp. I have been looking into dual pumps but, reading the reviews I am torn. I am thinking about grabbing a brand new sending unit and strapping 2 holley snipers to it. I'm not sure how to connect them together.

Your stock fuel system still wont be enough for a stock LQ4. I wouldn't worry about dual pumps or anything yet. I would focus on the basics to get the LQ4 in and running. Upgrade in stages after that.

Awesome, I have been reading about installing larger fuel fuel lines and going with a gen 4 fuel tank. I'm going to go with uncapped trunk injectors for now and move up to deca 80's later on. What else can I look into. I also have decided to eventually go with the walbro 450. Have I missed anything.
I really appreciate your guidance. The LS / third gen world is all new to me. this forum has oodles of info but a lot of the archives are obsolete, which is such a shame.

The stock fuel line should be fine for your power goals. The Walbro pump is a direct plug and play, however you must rewire your system to handle the extra current requirements. If not, you will melt the stock wires.

Racetronix might have a hot wire kit for our cars, but a 4th gen one can also suffice. You basically need a thicker gage wire from power/ground source(s) to the pump.

I would recommend getting a 99-02 plastic tank, using the in tank regulator, and then putting in a racetronix pump for a 99-02 fbody with their hotwire kit. That's what I did to mine and works very well! Can all be done for a few hundred bucks.
