Harness Help! I'm Back with 5.3 Swap questions. Help a 20 year old out!
Hey guys it's me again. I've held up my end of the bargain. I bought a low mileage 5.3 like i said i would. I got a stock truck wiring harness as well as the ecm from the same truck, uncut and pure factory. I was told my engine wouldn't start right away with the swap because my ecm needs flashed. Theres alot of "he said she said" around where i live. I just want this done right and good. I live in the country, i don't live anywhere need tuning shops or anything like that. How do i go about this? How do i get my ecm flashed and my harness "ls ready" for my car? It's going into my 1989 Camaro RS, in front of a shift kitted 700R4. Nothing crazy. Just want a fun car again. Any help is appreciated.

While yes you can get it from there , cheaper sources are available. Ive always bought my swap fuel pump from summit. God forbid anything happens I have a warranty and great customer service.

There a multitude of options when doing a ls swap. It mostly boils down to how much you want to spend and how picky you are about the over all under hood esthetics. I am just finishing up my sway with a 5.3 truck motor. I wanted my wiring perfect and to appear that it is a factory harness for my car. I bagged using the truck 5.3 computer. I purchased an ac delco remoan pcm for a 02 camaro. I completely gutted the truck harness and repined header connector. I made all the wiring colors match a factory harness. I am glad I did this. The delco computer was $90. I purchased pins for the wires for about $30 on amazon. I have allot of time but very little cash. I purchased an 02 camaro fuel tank with fuel pump for $125. Swapped out my old steel tank. The stock 02 camaro fuel pump has an internal pressure regulator. You only have to run one fuel line to the engine that way. To answer one of your first questions yes the engine wont run unless you remove the vats in the programming. Other option is to purchase an emulator that will give the pcm "OK START" signal. There are some other ways to trick the computer so it starts with out programming however I chose not to do that because that would suck if I were to leave a location away from home and it didn't start. I purchased HP TUNER software and did my own programming. its super easy but is the most expensive. Anyway I digress. Read the swap guides on this site and there is a ton of information.
