LQ4 Swap question
I am swapping a LQ4 in to a 3rd gen. I have rewired my harness and I am now hooking up the gauges. I have searched and I have been unable to locate a true definite answer. I am sure I have missed it but after hours of reading I figure I would just ask.
The temp sensor wire goes in to the ECM and is the ECT signal wire. I am assuming this tells the ECM when to kick the fans on so I did not want to cut it. Do I just splice in to it in order to hook it up to the temp gauge?
Oil pressure sensor wire. It is the Tan/Wht wire off the sensor. From my reading the ECM dies not really need any kind of reading from this wire because there is no safety in the ECM to shut down the engine. So cut this wire out of the ECM and hook it to my gauge?
Again I apologize for asking if it has been answered a million times. Thanks!

Re: LQ4 Swap question
Dont splice into coolant temp sender. They make a 3 wire sender i believe for 98 trans am. 2 wires go to the ecm like yours does but it has an additional wire that you can connect to factory 3rd gen temp gauge and it will be fairly accurate. The oil pressure sender I wired to factory 3rd gen gauges and it seems to be accurate as well.

Re: LQ4 Swap question
Thank you for the response. I will get the coolant sensor you described. I will also just cut the tan/wht wire going to the ECM from the oil pressure sensor and hook it directly up to my gauges. Much appreciated!
