Ug. Setback. Perhaps a rod knock
Re: Ug. Setback. Perhaps a rod knock
Quick update.
I've had the car on the road for a while and I'm enjoying it. I changed out the rear shocks to 'gas a justs'. which are somehow non adjustable lol. Anyway, they are way better and now I have to do the fronts also. Not sure which ones to get yet. The gas a justs are not available for the fronts.
Things I like:
1) The sound
2) Rolling along at 1600 rpm in a laid back chill mind space
3) Showing my 18 year old how doughnuts are done
Things I don't like:
1) My pinion seal started leaking
2) My coolant guage seems to be off it's rocker (Bottom or top, no in between). I think I have a suspect guage cluster ground
3) The VSS/Cable speed setup sheared off the cable because of the extreme angle of the cable...the vss adapter extends the cable attachment...Sucks but I cna't recommend this solution. Might work in a truck with more room. So I still have to figure out a speedo and vss signal to the ecm...
But overall I'm moving forward.
Next up is installing the rear sway bar...it was missing hardware so I'm catching up with this.
Then I'll try to clean up the temp guage...having the laptop be the temp guage on my drives is getting really old.

Re: Ug. Setback. Perhaps a rod knock
The sway bar is in...wow night and day difference...feels like a car now.
I ordered a stand alone temp guage, and I'm thinking about a gps speedo until I can get a decent 4l80. I can get speed from my phone, but I would like an odometer...strange how you miss the little things.
Seems like the gps odo would be kinda general though-the gps is slow to update, so the odo would be off quite a bit I'd guess...
The ideal would be to get a 4l80 and pipe in the vss to the ecm and then drive a 4k/mile output from the ecm to a digital speedo...just a lot of work and expense to get there.
