My 1988 IROC project
My 1988 IROC project
Hi Guys
Picked up my car last year, it needed some work. So I set aside a budget, did the body work myself it took about 6 months or so. It really was fun watching it all come alive.
My buddy's painted the base, had someone clear it. Wasn't impressed with the clear so I gotta fix.
I need to finish wet sanding some spots and it needs a nice speed buffing.
Check out our video of what the car was and what it is now. Next is the big block. Can't wait...need to set aside some more money though.
It'll take a few seconds to load,

Took it out yesterday for the first time with the T's off....I like!

I hate that your name is "stangboy" ... but you did right by that Camaro. Very nice work. Most people would have just trashed that in the condition it was in.
Re: My 1988 IROC project
I couldn't pass up on that car, the floors were mint. It needed restoration.
Thanks for the compliment.

Looks great I am glad to see that it was brought back from the dead nice work. I love seeing third gens being fixed up instead of being trashed.

Nice Video...I too love to see them come back to life. I finished my camaro last year and I get alot of thumbs up. People tell me that they don't really see these cars fixed up anymore. Glad you did it right.
Re: My 1988 IROC project
Thanks, It was a great experience. Although it wasn't a walk in the part when it came to block sanding the car. It was so tedious, not something I would plan on doing again.

Re: My 1988 IROC project
Here's some more pics of both my machines, it looks like I'm going to take it easy for a bit...the motor is next on the camaro. I need to figure out what standard transmission would be best for the 454. M22 rock crusher, ST10 or a T56...I plan on keeping and rebuilding the rear end with a set of 3.42 or 3.73's.
I need to figure out what would be the cheapest and efficient root plus I need to start putting some money aside for this.

Re: My 1988 IROC project
will it be able to have an inspection sticker???? ? me and dad has pondered the idea of a 454 in the camaro but afraid of not being able to get it inspected >!
Re: My 1988 IROC project
The question is, will your camaro pass the e-test with a big block? I'm not sure.

not sure what you mean by most people would have trashed it in the condition it was in. Looks like all it really needed was some minor body work and paint..
