wax needs to be gone.
I searched but found nothing so here it goes. I used zymol this summer to get my car nice somewhat. Now i want to wet sand the rest of the car and don't want to spend 3x as much time getting through the wax. does anyone sell a wax stripper that won't hurt my clear coat? I've heard of using dish soap but zymol is tough stuff. I appreciate the advice.

Re: wax needs to be gone.
Any automotive paint supplier will have a wax & silicone remover.
Will have a name like pre-prep or pre-cleano. Will be around $10-15 a gallon.

awesome that's what i needed to know. it took me three hours to wet sand buff and wax one side of the hood because the wax is so tough.

Re: wax needs to be gone.
Just wet sand it. It is not worth trying to strip the wax. It is not going to take you any longer to wetsand because it has a layer of wax on it.

Re: wax needs to be gone.
yes it does when you have a lot on.
usually i would say it does not but it took forever to get it done. I've done it before. thanks though.

Re: wax needs to be gone.
I'm not trying to argue, just have a discussion. Even if you do have 3 + layers of Zymol on there, it is not going to matter. There is no way that's going to hold up to wet sanding.
On my car I had a layer of sealant, then glaze, then 3 layers of carnauba on it. If I go over the paint with a minor abrasive (Meguiars scratch X, Optimum Polish), it's more than enough to strip everything on there and take it to the bare paint. Wet sanding is MUCH more abrasive than those products. And yes, I have also wet sanded my car. In my opinion, you are having a tough time because you have a hard clear, not because you have wax on it.
If your wax was that durable to make wet sanding tough, your car wouldn't need to be waxed in 3 years sitting outside 24/7. Not to mention that would be the best wax ever.

Re: wax needs to be gone.
ha ha okay. The clear is really tough. I'm trying to get the factory orange peel out and it's pretty tough. I thought maybe the wax was making it harder. I'll just take your advice and wet sand.
I just have to wait until i get it washed, pick up my winter car, fix my dad's truck and after i get back from Columbus sat., clean the garage (including all my scrape metal) list is too long and time is short... it always seems that way

Re: wax needs to be gone.
na thanks anyway. i was lucky to buy mine from an old man that kept it in the garage under a car cover from late fall to early spring. all it needs is the gfx repainted (got too close to a curb when i parked it.
) and a new drivers seat then it will be A+ (also one area of engine bay is rubbed to primer, even the under body is clean w/ orig. color and no rust, it still has the oem tags, labels and inspection crayon on the under body) I got lucky only spending $2800.
