How rare is my car and what's it worth?

My car is a 1983 z28 with working crossfire injection and is numbers matching other than a replacement Goodwrench. I have the origina buildsheet. It has been restored and has no rust. During resto, the paint was changed from red to Lamboghini yellow. It has the functioning hood flaps that still work (Am I right that not all cars had these?) and the composite bonnet. The rims have been replaced with American Racing Torque Thrusts and the interior has been retrimmed in faux leather. It has the fully electric seat, tilt wheel etc but the AC and smog gear has been removed. It is in good, not perfect condition. Certainly here in the UK it is a very rare sight with most Z28s being later cars or IROCs. I have no intention of selling but I am thinking of upping my insurance value at the moment its @ £2500 or $5000 so anyone who can help will be much appreciated.

If you want it insured for more, and the insurance company will agree then do it. It would be hard for someone over here to give you a real accurate value on something overseas. Not knowing how hard it is to find one over there for replacement purposes etc.. I would just call your insurance company and talk to them. Good looking car too!!!

Thanks. Unfortunately insurance companies here demand proof when you say that its a certain value. Generally Camaros are around the 2500 mark but most are scabby. If Someone gives a car providence by saying that its collectable then I can raise the value (As there's nothing over here to measure it against)

As far as rare, it's probably the only crossfire injection in the UK. You're going to be popular on this site. There's a bunch of crossfire guys here that are trying to get pictures of different crossfire motors for their restorations. You should search for some of the latest crossfire posts and introduce yourself.

This might be difficult in the UK, but you should have it appraised. That's the only way to determine with any legality what it's worth.

In the UK though... hmmm.

Well this one came true as I was side swiped by a bus. Fortunately, it was repairable and I had it done. I was able to convince the insurers that it had 'historic value and significance thanks to Kevin84z28's post.
Many thanks

Glad to be of service. I'm also glad that you'll still be able to enjoy your car for more years to come. By the looks of your picture it would seem that you're getting a lot of attention.

I don't really know either, but i must say, thank you for posting pictures. I was looking at these rims for my Camaro, which is an 84, but has the same ground effects. What size rims / tires front and rear btw?

Nice Z
