Iroc in GA
Here are a few pictures of my 88 Iroc-Z. I am currently stationed at Ft Stewart, GA. However, I am currently working temporarily at Walter Reed Army Medical Center to help our wounded hero's that are returning from Iraq.
A little bit about my ride. It's a 305 TBI with a 700R4 tranny that I bought it on Ebay ($1600) from a guy in NY who claims that when he originally bought it (from Ebay ($7000)) that it was miss listed. Description said it only had 11,000 miles, when it really has 111,000. He was under the impression that it was a show room quality ROC. When they dielivered it to him in Ny from Mississippi he was so unhappy that he had them take it off of the transport and he never touched it.
Since I've owned it I have been putting this thing back together from the original owner in MS. I put a complete MSD ignition, complete exhaust from the headers back. I hav spent a lot of money with odds and ends type stuff. Had to buy a new rim (mine was warped), put a complete stereo in it. I bought new seats and covers for them. It has been painted. Whoever did it sucks. It's ok and looks great from 10+ feet away (hence all of the pics are from far away), but up close its a mess.
It's a father and son project that I am proud of. And we continue to work on it every time I am home. Any suggestions are welcome.
Does anyone know if the engine blocks came from the factory painted orange? Mine is orange and I don't think it's original.
Pray for our boys/girls in Iraq they deserve it.

Looks like a nice car!
I don't think that's the original engine, as far as I know all IROCs came with TPI. That engine could be out of a truck.

Re: Iroc in GA
Thanks for the comments. Sorry it took so long for me to respond. I have been back and forth from DC to GA.
The VIN says that it came with the L03 engine. I was wondering about the orange paint. Anyway, the car runs great. I am doing things here and there to it as I make my way back and forth. I took it to get the windows tinted and they couldn't tint because of some crap on the window (think it is over spray). Does anyone have a recommendation for getting windows really clean. We are going to try acetone on a kitchen sponge (with the scotch brite).
I need to replace a fusible link too!!! I found a thread on here about sea foam. If you haven't tried it your missing out. I used it on both of my projects (88 Camaro and 88 Accord (306,000 miles)). I could tell a big difference especially in the honda. Smoked out the whole neighbor hood for 10-15 minutes. Too funny.
Once again, thanks for the comments. Pray for our boys in IRAQ!!!!

i have a 1989 Iroc with the LO3 also. all these guys that don't think that it is the original engine obviously don't know enough about Irocs(just messin). pretty clean car and i don't know about you but it pisses me off knowing that for 1000 bucks more my car could have been so much better and it will take me more money to get it equal to that

Re: Iroc in GA
Thanks for all of the postivie feed back. I still have a lot of nick nack type things that I would like to do. When I head home for the 4th I have to get my tail lights back working. I think the fusible link is blown, from when they put in my headers. Atleast I hope that's all it is. I don't know if anyone has heard of Youngs F Body in Charlotte, NC. I bought a set of front seats from them and they were a pleasure to deal with. My friends father picked the seats up for me. He said they have everything for F-bodies. Check'em out on the Inet.
Thanks again.

Awesome looking ride!!!!
What do you mean "just messin"? You should mean it seriously!!!!!!!!!! ....no big secret that Irocs got L03s. People need to do research before they start spouting misinformation. .
.....gotta love newbs.....
