Finally brought home the new project...

I bought this '82 Z28 off my wife's cousin a couple of months ago and finally brought it home today. It was his daily driver for years but has been sitting for several years. Already installed is a 2000 SS rear w/ torsion diff, eibach pro springs, boxed a-arms & control arms w/ polyurethane bushings through out, Kenny Brown diamond frame connectors, aluminum driveshaft, MDS 6al, and probably some other odds and ends I'm not thinking of right now. Unistalled parts I got with it include a complete and new 1LE brake set up, dual fan set up, new GM Serpentine set up, S&W 6 point cage, and a ton of other misc. 3rd gen parts (including some stuff I had sold him off my wrecked 1LE over 5 years ago!) It definitely needs some work and the trans is shot, but it's a pretty solid platform.

Looks nice and a lot of extra parts. How much did you pay for it all?

Re: Finally brought home the new project...

I bought a fuel tank and lines from your relative a few weeks ago and saw this sitting out in front of his house. I think they used to be your lines. I was going to try to talk him out of the wheels until he told me he already sold the car to a relative.

You should try to get that 6 spd swap he has.(If he's still got it) That was a killer deal....

Good luck

Re: Finally brought home the new project...

I think they were the fuel lines from my '91 1le I used to have, not sure if that was my tank though...hit a deer back in '02 and totalled the car and ended up parting it out unfortunately and he bought a lot of stuff off me b/c he had big plans for the car I just bought from him.
The 6-speed was tempting as the pedal assembly is already in the car and it was an awesome deal but with a baby on the way, the wife put her foot down....oh well.
If interested still in the wheels, I may consider selling them...I have a set of Welds I may put on the car.

Re: Finally brought home the new project...

Started investigating/checking out the car last night. Didn't think to take more pics until I had most of the interior out of the back. Here are some shots:

Has the 145 speedo, it's been converted to power windows and has a complete power mirror assembly (uncut harness, switches, everything) not installed yet

The drivers door is really rusted...probably going to just replace it (I have a set off my brothers old '92 RS and a set off my old '91)...otherwise, the only other rust on the car is in the back corner of the passenger rear fenderwell/spare tire compartment and it's nothing major

I already took it out but it has the hinged rear compartment cover that's in really good shape and it also has the rear cargo cover.

Re: Finally brought home the new project...

Hopefully there isn't any floor rot on that ride. I had a lot I had to repair. Surpisingly my doors are pretty good for a NY/NJ car. Theres a 84 or so (pointy nose like yours) Z in Shifflets (Sp)J-yard that has blue interior If you needed any. I think its a power window car as well (Its Been primered black) Surpisingly I hit the key on it and it started up.. Not much other than that locally. 2 at petrys as well pretty stripped though.

Good luck

Send me a PM on the wheels if you definatly want to unload them. I'm trying to keep mine cheap right now, but depending on the price I might just get them. I got a mint set of stock Z28 wheels that I was going to use but would rather have a nice set of IROCS If I found a set.

Re: Finally brought home the new project...

Floors and frame rails are all solid...it looks like it had been undercoated at some point. I'll have to stop by and check out Shifflets, did you notice if it was a Z and if it had a decent front spoiler? Mine has a tear and I think it happened when driving it off of the trailer b/c I don't remember it being torn...oops.
I'll PM you on the wheels.

2000 SS rear with torsion diff & girdle, eibachs and aluminum driveshaft...also boxed LCAs & panhard with poly bushings...think it needs new exhaust? Also you can see the rust I was talking about in the wheel well in the upper righthand corner of the pic

I'm pretty sure it was a Z and it whole car looked in decent condition. I'm pretty sure the front bumper was good. That was a few weeks ago. It is up near the back/top end of the yard. It was teal but has been flat blacked and has something written on the hood. I think its a T-Top Car. There may be another in Petrys but I think its pretty busted up as the front bumper cover has been pretty wrecked up. (Twisted up)
