1989 Camaro RS project.

So my project finally gets under way. Ive dropped my car off at the body yesterday and they said i should have her back at the end of the week. Now some people may not disagree but im having maaco do the job. the one i went to ive heard multiple good things about them on the work they do. and once i get the car im going to scrutinize every inch before i drive it away. i just didnt have the money for a real paint job from a job and i really wanted her ready for this summer.

After that i have just a few random things to do like new hood supports, i have the headlight covers to put on, and i have a new grant steering wheel going in. and i have to put a cd player in too.

after that im going to save up a little more money and then im going to get new leather interior done for the seats. and then vaccum and shammpoo the carpets and everything.

im pretty excited and ill be sure to post alot of pictures as things get done. but heres some pictures of how she started.

as an ex body shop guy i can tell you one thing-the cheaper the price the cheaper the materials-and less prep. ive seen alot of maaco jobs that didnt last more than 6 months. a little advice-dont take it to the car wash youll blow paint off-use a bucket and a sponge.

Re: 1989 Camaro RS project.

I would keep the stock red rims. I would just repaint them or give them some cleaning if the paint is okay.

theres pretty dirty so im not sure of the condition of the paint. ill be sure to take a look at them this weekend when it gets back from paint.

and ya think so? i didnt know if i liked the matching red or just a normal "metal" colored rim. i was ether going to keep the rims the way they are {repaint if needed} or i was going to polish or repaint them like a gun metal or something.

I also agree with my friend about it. I would just repaint them or clean them up to match the color of the camaro.
Currently my camaro red rims started to fade and one of the wheel looks pink lol
Keep us posted on your progress on you car. I want to see how it turns out

If money is tight and you went to school for collision repair then why not paint it yourself? It would probably be cheaper. Post lots of pics when you get it back.

I don't own a garage or have any place to do the work otherwise I'd love too. But the car came put awesome for what it is. I'll be sure to get pics up as soon as I get my radio installed.
