Faded Paint no More (New Pictures!)

Well guys, my Dad got some paint from work, and everything we would need to paint my 89 Camaro RS. And this whole week we've been working on getting it painted. Were just about finished with it, a few more coats to go on Saturday. Let me know what you guys think. My Dad is under the username dalt10 here on TGO, and sadly, is trading his 89 RS 305 tomorrow for a 81 Monte Carlo LS.

I like it, it looks more orange in person. I still have the stock rims on it, but those are gonna be black soon.

Re: Faded Paint no More

Looks really good!! What kind of paint? Did you clearcoat it? Why would you dad go from a 1989 Camaro to a 1981 Monte Carlo? Bigger motor?

Thanks, it's DuPont Industrial paint I believe, no clear. My Dad is a Monte guy, plus it was hard for him to fit in the Camaro lol.

So then why wouldn't he get an early 70's monte that actually looks good?

Pics aren't the greatest but these are a few of the Montes I've owned. You're right, these don't look good do they?
The first and second pic are the same car.

Re: Faded Paint no More

Well they don't look bad, but honestly anything after about 1972 monte carlo/nova/chevelle wise does not look nearly as good as 1972 and before. The 80's monte carlo looks really plain to me but they are still very nice cars.

It's all in opinion

Good work on the paint! Love a good budget paint job, leaves more money for go-fast parts.

I really like the monte SS but it does pale in comparison to a nice thirdgen. Not much of a fan of the 70's boats.

Thanks! No budget really, when all materials were free lol. I'll have more pics with the wheels painted and it all back together soon.

Lol, it's cammed, has ported heads, roller rockers, and a double roller timing chain. Still slow, but it needs a tune bad. I do want to put a 3.4 RWD V6, with a turbo like some of the other guys here, but I may just go with a 406 cammed LQ4.

Re: Faded Paint no More

Here's some new pics of it with my Dad's set of Draglite knock offs. I'm wanting to get a 3" cowl for it. That and maybe a real set of Weld Draglites, or black GTAs.

Re: Faded Paint no More

Looks great, but you'll need something under the hood to match the looks of the drag wheels and cowl.

Re: Faded Paint no More

I got some new shots of it, these re the 4 I like best. I'm looking to buy a parts car Camaro, with a 350 in it. Going to look at one today hopefully. So the 6 will be gone soon enough.

Let me know what you guys think, with the motor swap the exhaust tips will be coming off, new tires out back, and the nose may be lower.

Re: Faded Paint no More

It looks to me that the back of the front fender in the last pic is a tad too high... notice how the top isn't totally flush with the door and how the gap between it and the door is tighter near the bottom than the top. Probably something you can fix in 5 mins. Other than that it looks great!

I might plasti-dip the centers of the Draglites to see how it looks. I did see a Fox at the track with some black chrome Draglites and it looked pretty cool.

Re: Faded Paint no More (New Pictures!)

has a lot to do with the look your going for to i guess. If your going for a track look your well on you way with the draglights. Back and forth to school i think the black rims look killer, plus i like the stance... you should have someone photshop the draglights black, i think it would look really killer. If you decided on black rims make sure to paint the headlight buckets black as well!!! think it would break up all that red and complemnt the rims great....

Yeah, these wheels are my Dad's and don't fit correctly in the back, I'm gonna save up for a set of real Weld Draglites, 15x4 up front, and 15x10 in the back. The stockers I blacked out are gone, but we both know how easy they are to find. Plus school is over now, it's going to work and back lol. Oh, and the headlight buckets will be painted flat black when I put a new nose on, mine has cracks and dents.

Well, Camaro is becoming the DD. Picked up a Datsun 260Z today. She'll be getting the LSx treatment.
