Ok so two days ago I bought my first car... It's a 1991 camaro rs with a v8 305 and very nice, but today I went to close the hatch (automatic pull down) and it locked down but the motor wouldn't catch on to it so it won't go down all of the way. Since it locked it won't come up with out me using the key or button in the car but it stays up about two or three inches, so what should I do? Maybe I tried to close it too hard and the motor dropped to far to catch on to the latch

 

FYI.... those pull down hatch motors go bad often. I've had to replace mine. I was told by another Camaro guy that you have to keep the track within the hatch motor assembly greased. I know GM discontinued this part. I found mine on Ebay.
