Just thought I would share this story:

I have a 14 yr old daughter and her 14 yr old cousin (my neice) is visiting us from the east coast. The last couple nights they have spent hours sitting in my IROC listening to music (in the garage). Last night they asked if they could sleep in it! I thought that was strange but they said they just feel so cozy in it...I said ok.
This morning I went into the garage to wake them up and my daughter said "dad, if we ever have to live in a car I want to live in the IROC!" lol! I thought that was so cute!
Tonight we headed to a friends for a bbq and my neice gets out and almost screams "that is the coolest car ever!!". She loves the T tops, sound system and the whole look/sound of the V8. Now they want to take it everywhere!

Anyway, pretty cool to have a couple teenage girls who love an old car from the 80's!!

 

at first the title didn't sound too good. unless you were a 15 yr old boy....lol. crazy to think how old our cars really are. 25 yr old cars have character.

 

Funny story, I find it even better when 18 year old girls think my car is the coolest in the world!

14 is legal in Canada. 16 is legal in Georgia. But I'm no pedo. I just hear things when I'm enjoying beers and burgers and football at the sports bar.

 

It's kinda funny when I take my car out for a cruise. I get a lot of head turning from younger people. It almost seems like an exotic car to them since there aren't many of them out on the road anymore. Not like it was back when we were growing up and you'd encounter a third gen or 5.0 Mustang at almost every stop light.

 

Yah I def thought this was a 15yr old boy when I read the title lol.

On a serious note though prtty cool story. I like when Im cruisin around in my car and little kids come runnin up to look at it, makes me feel like Im keepin 3rd gens alive, who knows one of them might get a 3rd gen when they get older because they saw my car

 

I've had my 1990 Camaro for almost a month now and love every second of it. I drove a chevy blazer since i had my license and now that i have this heads actually turn my way. So much fun to drive

 

lmao, go buddy!! i can say myself that the younger crowed loves these cars and most think they are rare because they never see them or atleast when they look good all dressed up and looking good. i cant wait till i start driving to school in august this year its gonna be sweet because the only other thirdgen in my school is a 92 red with black stripes and its.....not too pretty to say the least and that little 305 is on its last legs so its gonna be interesting

 

Out here in Mass near Boston, I am lucky if I see a single third gen once every two weeks... I am 21, but I do notice younger teenage girls flock to my car in mall parking lots and such. Doesn't make my GF to happy

 

Yea I got alot of attention in High school for a nice blue one I had, now in college everyone still thinks it's the stuff!

 

I've got a 1990 IROC vert. Once upon an evening 2 college girls just jumped into it at the stoplight (top was down) and asked for a ride.

With any luck we'll still be able to drive these when my 6 year old nephew is old enough to drive to see what the girls think of it then.

 

Might want to change that Title a bit Whats even better when the 20-23 year stare you down with the look. When I was in high school. Everyone stared at my Car, even with the faded paint. One girl asked me if I get alot of "tang" with it as I drove by her. The question didn't register till I was long gone.

 

i remember being 8 or 9 and sitting in my dad's brand new '89 IROC thinking it was the most awesome car ever...


I see more 5th gens on the road around here than 3rd gens, Iowa is not friendly to rust-prone cars.

 

Lets just say, my car has gotten me more than enough tail in the past year;D ahaha. Dad says "Dylan,whys there a big dent on your hood? And why are the seats all leaned back?" UHHH wellll about that dad.... Ahaha

 

Yeah, title is misleading but a good story. Even here in SO CAL I get a lot of looks with my Bird. Later.

Yep it feels good !! My daughter is 21 and has been trying to get me to give the ole IrocZ to her mmmmmmm not! but it's nice the younger gen recognizes true beauty

 

I work with a number of Europeans and it's even better when they ask where they can go to get something that looks that good. The whole concept of it being over 20 years old doesn't sit well with them because they know it means they won't find one when they get back home.

 

I can't remember the last time I saw a thirdgen on the road in Minnesota.

Actually, I can; last year when I was home for a month I saw a base 'bird that was trashed. Beyond that, I honestly don't remember the last time I saw any incarnation of thirdgen on the road.
