Hello TGO, i bought a 1990 camaro rs 6/22/11. the previous owner hit a tree a while back and it's been sitting up ever since. I had a 1979 Firebird but sold it to get this car. The car was originally a 305 TBI automatic, with 17,000 on the Speedometer(not sure if it's right). Ditched the whole 305 setup for a 4.8, eventually will be a 5.3 HO. Looks like all i need to get the body straight, is a front bumper, and i'm doing a 86 sport coupe clone (lemme know if you have one). I'm planning on painting it a flame red metallic with black stripes at the bottom outlined in gold. This vehicle will be my first that i'm doing a H/C/I to.

 

That's great! keep us posted on your work. Sounds like going to be a sweet paint job

 

i got the paint color idea from 1MEANZ, and the stripe SC package idea is from 1NASTY86... i think it'll look great and run fast when i'm done with it

 

You're gonna turn it into an '86 SC clone? Why?

 

cuz sport coupes look all innocent and unpowerful, and that is the effect i want everyone to have about the looks of my third gen

 

noone can build a fast sport coupe..... they are all slow

Yeah, I have seen cars that will be rust free and people will be getting ready to send it to paint and will end up finding rust and/or rot under the gfx. After finding it it will put people off by a few weeks and sometimes make them kill the project. If I were you make sure you check that before getting too far and definitely before paint.

 

i plan on doing this thing from ground up, building a 10 bolt with 4.10's and a posi, spohn k member, approximately 430 HP 5.3. nothing on this car is going to be left untouched...

 

sending it off to paint sometime in febuary, i hope to god the body shop can find a sport coupe bumper for it, because i haven't been able to locate one in good condition anywhere. everything will kick off after i get it back from paint.

 

Got the GFX off today, no rust or rot from what i can tell, but there is always a chance of rot on the inside. not sure if i want to go the SC way or not anymore. will know for sure when i get the torque thrust's on there and see what it looks like with the GFX and everything.
