Rebirth of a 86 Iroc-z
Hello all finally getting around to restoring my 86 irocz(yes its an iroc i ran the vin it came from van nuys) has ttops i bought it early last year from a kid that did a rattle can paint job it has a 355 that seems like its been mildly built(she moves quick at wot) trans shifts good, the rear end is a posi but no longer locks together to spin both it also has a back yard true dual exhaust system that hangs way to low but plans are to completely disassemble the body get it sanded and smoothed out and repainted a artic white, hood definetly needs replaced looking for cowl induction hood. Want to swap the seats for some nice 4th gens, ill replace all the gauges already add two on the piller but arent hooked up yet, side skirts will get replaced with some 91-92 rs ones, ive already modded some halo lights in place of two of the headlights. Future plans are hopefully by winter ill have the money for a 383 and new rear end but heres some pics as it sits now.

Re: Rebirth of a 86 Iroc-z
Your IROC looks like a good platform for a restoration. Body looks straight.
Hey, do you honestly like the way the halo headlights look? IMO they look ridiculous and totally out of place. You dont have a bad looking car. I just hate modifications that look cheap or cheesy.
Good luck with your car!

Body looks nice also and would look real good in a white. Good luck on the rebuild!

title says white but after pulling parts off and sanding some of them were red or black so the cars been put together with different parts then painted im taking it all apart and doing each individual part to make everything match

Do u guys suggest maybe just finding a new hatch? Because I cant get it to align properly with the rear passenger quarter anyways so it sticks out a lil farther

Well i took a closer look and it seems that the previous owner put caulk in between the hatch piece and the glass ill get some pics taken but it looks like it be easier to just replace it with a correct camaro hatch

Re: Rebirth of a 86 Iroc-z
So found a few issues today one being there is very thin aluminum covering a huge rusted out spot the area where i believe the spare tire would go another is the interior used to be tan i found this out when i started taking the panels off to get to bolts here which means the panels have spray painted as far as updates go pulled the front nose off to get it all prepped and aligned correct got rid of the latch that was bent and was a pain to open

Small update tonite got the gas cap smoothed out and primed got the piece fabbed in to "pop" the cap open think it came out pretty good. Updates on the car itself will be done once it warms up probably tuesday. 20 degree weather and wind is not my ideal time to be geting stuff done on it.

Great job, just not sure why you are putting 92 ground effects on a Iroc, they didn't make a Iroc in 92. It will look nice! but takes away from the Iroc. I guess i woundn't worry about the hatch looking like a 86 if you do the 92 gfx. You are kicking some A** and doing a great job. I 'm enjoying the restore!
