My 89' RS PROJECT!
Well I bought this car about 5 months ago. I showed up and needless to say wasn't impressed and it wasn't what I was looking for.... But that's not how it works out every time. I was expecting to show up to a V6 TPI but instead ran into a Carburated 305 which I was content with.
Anyways the body is not in good shape at all, the transmission (700R4) was shot and it ran like crap. I was there with a friend and of course the idea of a winter project came up, I wasn't interested but I offered him $600 anyways ( He wanted $1200) I was expecting him to not even consider it and just flat out say no but he didn't. So thats how I ended up with this beast. I have pictures almost from start to finish that I'll upload. The bodywork is almost finished and the transmission is already rebuilt with a mild shift kit put in. Enjoy and I'd appreciate any constructive criticism you all have to offer!
The edelbrock filter and the breather on the valve cover were both mine.

Re: My 89' RS PROJECT!
The first thing I tackled was the bent out of shape carburator and the stock intake that was improperly put in.
First thing I decided to get was a weiand stealth performance intake for the engine that I got off of a friend of mine (Only paid $40) the old intake was put on ONLY using heat resistant PVC gasket and no intake gaskets at all. The thermostat was missing also and TV cable not put on right.
Next I purchased a 600 CFM manual choke edelbrock as the Q-jet was needed a rebuild. The headers below are the ones that came on it, the previous owner decided it was nice to pound in the one tube to make it fit past the steering shaft.
After that I grabbed a new set of NGK sparkplugs and a set a 7MM spark plug wires from a friend to use for the time being.

Re: My 89' RS PROJECT!
Yea it's not easy to find a job anymore.
Well continuing on, I thought I'd share this little gem the previous owner installed when they swapped the engine, they bent a piece of diamond plate to hold in the V8 radiator. I'm not gonna touch this until the engine is running sound and the body is done but I lol'd pretty hard when I saw this at first
After I replaced the intake and carb I got some new valve covers and bolts to go on to touch up the engine, after that I bought Accel's Super Stock plug wires. the size is 8MM.

Re: My 89' RS PROJECT!
I removed the entire exhaust from the headers back and threw it in the scrap pile. Rusted beyond belief, the cat was empty and the weld job done was just horrendous. I purchased the 2055 Hooker header kit from Hooker and installed it, below is the picture of the headers. (I'll put up pics of the entire exhaust) The system I decided to purchase was Flowmasters American Thunder series exhaust with the dual rear exit. Unfortunately it's not all on because I'm missing my rear exhaust hanger that's located behind the passenger rear wheel.
Now for a controversial issue I've seen all over the place is the paint for the body. I decided to do a rustoleum paint job for a couple reasons. I don't want to spend $600 on paint and I want to get it done fast. ( I don't want to hear anything about how I caused myself more problems in the future when I go to do a real paint job yada yada yada, I know what I did. ) Anyways this is how the rest of the camaro is going to look and yes the front clip has been sitting there done for about a week so there is dust on it. Not all garages are dust free lol I wish mine was!

Re: My 89' RS PROJECT!
I have the exhaust on and all set, just don't have the permanent hangers in quite yet. Below I posted a sound clip, It's 4 seconds long but sounds good. (For some reason it didn't want to post, Looking into it.)
