the carb had just been rebuilt the oil had been changed and the belts were new, the air filter was a bit dirty but its got a good fram now, aswell as running mobil 1 10w 30 and a k&n oil filter.

the interior is totally perfect, new carpet good floor pans excellent condition leather/tweed seats and even the seatbelts dont sag, the headliner like all headliners had seen better days though, but what do you expect from a ttop car?

I kept my egr in simply because the gains weren't worth the effort to take it out.

I need to do the evap canister as well so I can plumb a custom CAI, I hate how restrictive the stock tpi plumbing is.

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

o.0 its almost one of the best flowing intakes around man, unless you get that cai to go infront of the radiator like through a headlight opening it wont flow much better, and the filters like spectre and k&n dont flow "better" enough to rationalize there cost to me, and theres the letting dirt through issue, but hey its your car do what you wanna do, thats what hot roddins all about

The TPI intake is very restrictive, I'll probably find a paper filter to stick on the end of some piping that will run similarly to what you're talking about.

cool, honestly you could remove your high beams and run the ducting to right there and make grilles out of mesh to cover where they used to be and also to keep leaves and such out

If you do headers, how much would you consider getting rid of your manifolds for? I have a buddy looking for some l69 ones

well attempted to re charge the air today, and after about 37 ounces of r1-34 and 17 of "first charge" its not full, it blows cold but not very hard, i have a vacuum leak behind the hvac controls i know, i guess thats why, anyone got a great cheap way to fix it? tape the hose on (it keeps coming un-plugged from the vacuum module

also had a pinhole sized air leak right on the tread of one of my back tires today, took it out to NTB and had them fix it usually its like 20 bucks the guy said "hell just gimme five thats fine" and then asked "you got a posi rear in that car?" i replied "yepp 3.73 posi" he noted how he felt it as he spun the tires in reverse when he first got it lol tires fixed, still running strong

You mean like no lights come on or anything when you turn the ignition? Or will it just not turn over?

You gotta give us more than that, it could be anything

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

If your computer is dead I would think that is the most logical reason it died, but you could try throttle body cleaner, it worked for me when I couldn't get mine to start or idle.

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

By computer i meant my labtop, found my problem, the wire going from the starter solenoid to the distributor is broken, my problem now is that i cant get in to ot to put it back together with the end still on the solenoid, and landoe, yepp only thing that worked were my head, and fog lights, gauges are stuck? If that makes sense at al, radio is dead too. Any reason i cant run a new wire from the dizzy to the old broken one? Also. Kinda pointless now but all my chrome dress up stuff is here from jegs. For a broken car

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

i have diagnosed the problem as such the wire which (according to my wiring diagram in my haynes manual) is that a wire of a pretty small gauge (which is attatched to a larger gauge wire that runs from the batterie to the starter) and is supposed to go to the "power distribution system" distributor? is broken i know its broken because well i looked right at it and the attatched end is separated from the rest of the wire so i need to find the other end in the loom, or heat sheild and re attatch the attatched (to the starter) end and see what happens, or just run a new wire from that end to the distributor

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

Well it wasnt the one to the diizz it was the one to the ignition switch. Long long painful tragic story short. I used a butt connector, and a TON of blacktape to fix it. She seems fine now ((knock on wood) ................ but. Can i just say what a major pita it was to pull that harness from under the back of the engine to the top of the engine bay so i could fix it. Ended up cutting the heat sheild sleeve thing off. Didnt bother to put it back on

OH! that computer! lol. I would put the heat shield back on and try to fix your problem properly (use something better than tape lol), but at least it works now!

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

its not much of one, and i dont think i need it, it was just thin metal, more of a thing to hold it in place then anything, but its far enough from the y pipe that it should be okay, and i used a butt connector and a ton of tape around the wire, and then all three wires to loom ehtme together, i dont know a better way to fix it do you?

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

I would tighten it up or replace it...These cars are a bit difficult to drive without PS, I turned mine off while I was moving for some reason, I can't remember what, and it was a bit more difficult than man steering in my friend's ford aerostar lol.

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

well my repair job which was bound to go went today on the interstate about 5 mins from school, and thanks to the home of the 60 dollar tow i got home and started to work and ran a new wire 10 gauge to the fitting thats supposed to go on the starter, warapped the hell out of it with black tape and then heat insulating steel tape and wrapped my y pipe with header heat wrap, should be good now

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

well got some more bad news guys (if anyones actually following that is, i dont think anyone is but ohwell) today coming home from school and up my hill, the car had nooo ***** and was running really really hot, that i guess is because it was a hot day, i found a plug wire off and popped it back on and it seemed to run fine from there, however tonight coming home from my girlfriends house, the car again had no power coming up the hill and rev'd high, all my plug wires are on though, and when i slowed down to bakc inthe driveway, well the car didnt want to it kept revving higher and higher, so i put it in neutral and then shut the key off, but the car didnt shutoff it ran (like complete ****) but it wouldnt stop till i re started it and then shut it off again and took the key out, it backfired and gurgled and ran like it was misfiring but all my wires are good, and why would the throttle stick? could it be the fuel filter? seriously guys i like to consider myself fairly adept at fixing my old pos but i have no idea now, any help please anyone, this car is my love, my baby, and my daily driver (so i need it to run right) any knowledge or help please

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

Nice car! Is your hood the steel or fiberglass one?

As far as the car not working it SOUNDS like an ignition problem. I would check all that stuff and also the fuel filter. Also, your timing may be out of whack for some reason, which is why it's running hot and running like crap.

So how many cars does this make for you now? 3?

If you are ever wanting to sell your snorkel hoses, let me know :-)

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

whatya give me for the snorkel hoses? i'm currently not using them, and i didnt mess with the timing when i had the car blocked up and stuff, so idk why it'd be off, and it seems fine now until i start up my hill i have to floor it and it doesnt rev high or go anywhere

Re: guess i could say its my build thread

long story short, i got her back, only thing is he took it out and ragged the **** out of it, and it went from a small oil leak to a pretty big one, now confident it needs a new oil pan gasket, rear main (can i switch to a one piece seal easily?) and valve cover gaskets but shes still mine
