1984 Z-28 L69
After a long hard search I found the car to fit my needs. I've been searching for an 84-87 Z-28 White, carbureted, hardtop without A/C and no power options. I purchased this car in April of 2012 with only 11,531 miles. I will post pictures of the day I brought it home.
Hope you enjoy

Her are some more pics of engine bay before the clean up. Take note of the rusty jones under coating that was sprayed all over engine compartment. Came off pretty easy with a little elbow grease and some mineral spirits.

I spy a camaro conteur interior in that thing! Can you get some pictures of the interior. That car def a rarity with that interior along with the powertrain. Since its a HO and a 5 speed you have a fairly good chance of having 3.73 gears in the rear. Not sure if you checked that or not yet.
Im going to add a bit to this and say that since its a rarer car and low mileage you might consider only doing the mods that you can change back to stock should you feel like it. In other words instead of weld in SFC buy the bolt in type. Things like that. The value of that car is in its originality.

Same one...I just decided to start a build thread of everything I have done since April. I should have started it sooner. I given bits and pieces of the car but decided this would be best to show TGO my build in order.

If thats the case you dont have a 700r4 in that car. That would be the 4 speed auto. You have a T5.

As far as modifying this low mileage car it was not an easy decsision. Car was so original down to spark plugs, plug wires, brakes, belts, hoses and tires. I have saved every nut and bolt to be able to be put back to original. Everything I do will be bolt on. As rare as this car is it will never be a 69 Z-28. I plan to keep this car for a while and maybe pass it down to my boys some day.

You are correct...I will post some pictures soon. It did come with 3:73 geras but I had changed them to 4:10...After seraching long and hard for a Dana 44 I finally found one. I will be posting my progress with that soon.
As far as modifying this low mileage car it was not an easy decsision. Car was so original down to spark plugs, plug wires, brakes, belts, hoses and tires. I have saved every nut and bolt and only thing I had to do that concerned me was useing the hole saw to cut opening for auto shifter gromet. Everything I do will be bolt on. As rare as this car is it will never be a 69 Z-28. I plan to keep this car forever and pass it down to my boys some day.

Sounds like you got a good plan going for it! As for the dana 44 im jealous. Ive been looking on and off for a few years now with no luck so i gave up and rebuilt my 9 bolt completely instead. If it goes out again in a few years then ill give up on it and seriously start the hunt again for a D44. If you ever change direction and want to sell that dana let me know!

Wow...That car is/was a true time capsule. If mine were in that kind of shape when I got it, I'd be hard-pressed to mod it. It's true, it'll probably never command top dollar like a 69Z, but I do think it would sell a bit above any LG4 Z of that era. Love the interior too but not the color of it!
Like you, I still have my original engine rebuilt on a stand with less than 5k on it when I yanked it. The ECM and harness, the composite hood, the duel snorkel AC and scoops etc. Sold the rear end though...it was just a POS 3:73 one-wheel peel aluminum drum thing anyways. Good luck with the build!

Her are some pictures of the under carriage. First picture shows the Rusty Jones under coating and I have one with most it already removed. I used mineral spirits and alot of elbow grease
Still have more to do.

That sucker looks solid underneath!! My car also had the "Rusty Jones" treatment...I can tell you it doesn't work. Yours is a low mileage car, and its a good thing you're taking that crap off.
Do you plan to spray some real under coating on it? It's looking nice! And where did you get the "test pipe"??? I can't get one here locally...or they won't sell me one. I notice it has the 4 bolt flanges exactly like I need! What diameter is that test pipe?

I still have the Rusty Jones tar on my car....just never saw any reason to remove it. Mine is also garage kept, and never sees bad weather or salt. But sometimes you'll get a suprise downpour during the summer...

Hear are a few shots of engine bay after cleaning and wiping off Rusty Jones undercoating. I also removed air pump and air tubes (saved every nut & bolt). I replaced fuel pump with hi volume Carter and made up new fuel line to help with boiling fuel and vapor lock on hot days.

So jealous of how clean that car is...and very very jealous of the Dana 44. It puts my built 9 bolt to shame.
