Congratulations, I'llrocya. Your perfect example of a 1984 Z28 H.O. is this month's TGO Car of the Month. Perfect car, perfect options, I don't know what else to say. You're making leg warmers and Ratt: Out of the Cellar seem cool.
I've always been a fan of third gens ever since they came out. Its one of the reasons why I have an early version. I've have this one for 3 years and have done lots of things to improve it but to keep it as original as possible. The car itself is a 1984 Camaro Z28 with the L69 option 5.0. H.O. automatic with a 373 posi rear. Other options include power seat, PDL, PW, P-hatch, t-tops, console clock and custom cloth. Full tune up, BFG tires, carb rebuild, front and rear suspension work, struts, strut bearings, shocks, springs, rear control arms, pan-hard bar, both sway bars. wonder bar all from Spohn Performance, full A/C upgrade, headliner, sail panels, visors, complete brake system including all hardware and lines, every piece of weatherstripping, magnaflow cat-back, window & lock motors, alternator, battery, all fluids and so much more.
I knew you would win all along Great car and great guy!
Very nice car, love the colors and it brings back good memories, of when these first came out, to this old guy
Thanks everyone very much! First let me say that all the cars up for Feb 2016 COTM were all outstanding. All of them winners in my book, just look at them. It was a pleasure being in such great company. Its nice to finally win, I think this was the 3rd or 4th time. This means a lot to me. Right now I doing the George Jefferson strut, I'm pretty excited about this, lol. Hey Linson, it's funny you mentioned RATT, it just so happens I have a RATT sticker on my back window. How funny is that?

perfect! that's funny. i just wanted to mention something that was decidedly early eighties and passe. plus, i knew that album came out in '84 - i used to listen to it when i was in 4th & 5th grade. too perfect though that you have that on your car. not trying to knock RATT, since you like it enough to put that sticker on your car, but i didn't go with something like Shout at the Devil or Metal Health ('83 releases) because (my opinion) those albums hold up better today.
i personally have DANZIG stickers on all of my back windows.
That interior is simply AWESOME !! One of the very nicest that was factory installed in the ThirdGen Camaros (IMO), and this car has about the best example of that Sandstone 'tiger-stripe' custom cloth I've seen in ----> well,..... A REALLY long time !!!
Hey MY87LT, I think by 1984 you could get the L69 option either way with an automatic or manual. 1983 I believe it was mostly manual with auto being an option, I think. I'll have to look into that myself. I can't remember, good question???

'83 was stick only. The auto was offered starting in '84.
They've always been great plus they have two of the best guitar players in the business. And just to clear things up, the sticker on my back window is a nod to all of those bands, not just Ratt. I grew up in the 80's and just like many others, thats our music and these are our cars.
But not to old to look them up on youtube, Milton Berle is in one of their video's. I know you heard of him. From what I remember he was related to the singer or something. Also, they came out in the early 80's, I know you like the older stuff as do I. I have a jukebox with mostly 60's music in it.
Fran your not old !! You have a Trans Am. Old guys don't drive those - LOL
Something happened - big fight with Ratt and Stephen Percy(singer), he owned the name and the band went out on tour without him ... big legal fight among the band ...
What a fantastic Z-28. I had a new one in 1984, My first camaro. It was Red/Black, auto, T-Top 5.0 H.O. (my dad would not let me have a 5 speed) Traded it for a 1987 Iroc 5.7 Black/Grey leather, T-Top. Still wish I would have kept the 1984 and just added the 1987 but did not have that kind of cash. BTW from the factory some of the ways you could tell an H.O. was, the tires were black walls, the front air dam was wider/deeper than a Crossfire or regular 5.0. I still look for the deep air dam when I see a Z-28 coming towards me on the road 32 years later..
