I saw both of those, they're pretty good deals, especially that roc! Want to split on a barn rental? We'll smash it full of every good third gen deal that comes up nearby

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Pulled the saggy headliner out yesterday and broke the a pillar plastics So I'll need to hunt down a set. Also wondering how you guys went about re-installing them, if anyone's ever done it on a hard top car. Getting the clips and everything to line up felt far more difficult than it should, so I must be doing something wrong.
Also, car starts to idle like garbage after running for a bit. CEL is on and the codes are MAF and burn off relay (33/36). I replaced both and it didn't seem to do anything. Anyone have any ideas? Car will idle nicely then suddenly drop and bog, then go back to idling nicely. If I give it gas, it wakes it back up, so I'm assuming the issue is still air related. With the MAF and BOF both being replaced, I doubt they're somehow both faulty, but maybe??

Check the voltage on your Throttle Position Sensor, should be at 0.54 but keep in mind the new maf sensor could be lousy, I tried replacing mine once and it immediately threw a code and did not work properly. Might want to try a can of CRC mass air flow cleaner, I did that on my original Bosch and it worked well.

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Someone's dropping off a working MAF this morning so I can see if mine's actually faulty or the issue's somewhere else. In better news, I got the new tires on and I'm honestly shocked at how well the car drives now (minus the barely running part). Drives dead straight, suspension feels tight, and after a set of pads and rotors, we'll be rolling nicely. Keep in mind that this thing sat for something like 6 or 7 years, so the fact that it even rolls is a win!

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Also, with the addition of the IROC, and my Mustang still being the daily, my GTA is going to be spending the foreseeable future sitting idle in my underground just taking up a $75/mth parking spot. I'm only offering it to the Third Gen community as I need it to stay loved and not wrecked by some hillbilly kid who only kisses his dad on the lips. If you're interested in the car, I'm making a new thread with all the details regarding it.

Quick update. Rad's leaking, and my broomstick collapsed causing the hood to come down and break my finger. Replaced some sensors and the car still idles like s***. Today's been good

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
No pics to show as I haven't made any cosmetic changes, but I am a bit frustrated with how it's running. I changed the TPS and IAC, did the proper adjustments of both, and still have a bit of a rough idle. I can't find any vacuum leaks, there are now no codes, so I'm still trying to figure out the issue. Also ordered a new rad of Amazon and was pretty surprised at the cost, I thought it would be 10x as expensive as it was! I'll be getting that in as soon as it arrives, but in the mean time, does anyone know if it's a tough job? Looks pretty straight forward

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Got the new rad in after a minimal struggle. Someone put the lower rad hose clamp on facing the ground, so it was damn near impossible to get a flat head on to it, but we're all good now. Still trying to figure out this idle issue though, because I'm worried that the car's just going to leave me stranded somewhere that I don't want to be.

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Also I've been noticing that this car gets a TON of attention. I still have the car behind my work so I can tinker with it when I have some free time, and I've already had 4 people stop and start talking to me about it. They either have, had, or LOVE these cars and just want to talk about them, which works for me! It's strange to me that my GTA gets very little attention, unless it's some kid calling it a Corvette or something

Right? Apparently he has a couple untested UX1s (which I haven’t been able to find anyyyywhere for a helluva long time) so I’m def spinning out there. We’re almost obligated to at least grab a couple mint dashpads to throw in our basements before they end up in a landfill

I don't think anyone's following along here but hey at least it's a place for me to share my milestones. I'm still waiting for my shop to free up some time to get the trans and exhaust in my car, but today I at least got to move it around. I noticed the trans fluid level was pretty low so I topped it up to see what would happen. Sure enough the car goes in to first, but that seems to be about it. It'll go in to reverse and kinda roll backwards, but any flick of the gas is just a neutral. Gave me just enough sauce to drive it around the parking lot though and that was pretty cool! Brakes and everything feel surprisingly good, but we'll see what happens when the car can get up to road speed.

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Alright fellas, few small notes. Visited that third gen yard, and in terms of the cars themselves, they're nothing special and have been picked clean of most of the good stuff. However, the good parts all got put in to a big storage container, so he has tons of hard to find stuff in great condition! 3 91-92 spoilers in mint condition, some original BOSE stereo systems, all kinds of interior / exterior trim pieces and panels. Doesn't have anything left for seats unless you want to re-upholster them. Prices are fair and he won't budge a dollar on anything, but if you have a list of things that you need, it's definitely worth the drive.
As for my car, the code 33 is back and my car runs a little worse now. Maybe I need to just bite the bullet and order a new MAF. The thing that has me stumped is that the issue is ONLY at dead idle. If you give it any gas or accelerate down the road, there's no hesitation whatsoever at any amount of throttle, but when you let it drop down to idle, it gets rough. If it were injectors, wouldn't I have a very noticeable hesitation under acceleration?
Also, I know there are scanners and such that I can use to pin point this issue, but I'd really like to avoid spending the extra money until I really need to.

I scored a pretty clean steering wheel too, but unfortunately it doesn't have a horn button so I need to hunt one down. Still looks far better than my current one though as the leather's very clean!

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
I can't get the original metal clamp to re-clamp around the Y intake and front of the MAF, so even though it still has the o-ring, the MAF sits in there fairly loosely. Could that be causing some issues?

Air IFO (in front of) the MAF is not metered, so that leak should not be your problem.

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Someone said that they had an identical issue in their TPI Vette, and it turned out to be a plug wire that wasn't 100% pushed on. Just checked mine and they're all on tight. I did however spot a line that was unplugged and thought that I FINALLY found my issue, but nope it made no difference. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it's ONLY my idle that's bad? Any acceleration fixes it completely

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
If you have only one or two that are not firing correctly you probably will only feel it at idle. Injectors are just one of those parts you can't fully test unless you remove them and have a flow tester. I also am not familiar with the maf system so you could be on the right track with that. I do want to show you a pic of the ports on the base that I took off the car. This was the pass side, no O2 sensor side. I am assuming that the inconstant carbon build up is from the injectors not all firing properly?

Just checked the ohm reading of my injectors. One is about 6, so there’s at least one issue. And 6 others are 20-21, what does that mean? It’s a 350 TPI with no mods at all

I believe they should be 14-17 OHMS. They all should be within .5 of each other. The test should be done when warm. It sounds like you do have injector issues, at least on the electrical side for sure.

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
No updates on the ROC at the moment, but I did end up getting rid of my GTA last night. The market seems to be extremely soft for T/A's around me so even at 3600 (2700USD), nobody was going to bite with a reasonable cash offer, so when someone offered me a trade for a super clean YJ, I decided to take the deal. Dumped the clutch and sent the GTA screaming sideways down the road for one last goodbye burnout, then loaded it up and sent it off with its new owner. The car's been in my world since I was about 10, and I've always been obsessed with it, so my heart's a bit sore today.

It's filthy right now, but I've never seen a Wrangler, nevermind a YJ, with a frame and tub THIS clean, it's pretty wild. It drives well, hasn't been tampered with beyond what you see in the pic, and it's almost entirely rust free, so it'll likely be sold shortly to re-coup some of the money I put in the GTA

I knew it too as I watched it leave on the flat bed. Not usually very sentimental with vehicles, but I certainly hope that this one finds its way back in to my world some day. For now though my attention's on the IROC, and I recognize that the GTA would have sat untouched for who knows how long

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Not a huge update, but my new horn button arrived today, so my steering wheel finally looks nice and clean! I won't have time to do the injectors myself for a few weeks so I dropped the car off at a shop to have them put in. Told them to tackle the idle issue too if the injectors don't fix it. Should have the car back by the end of the week, then I can actually do some DRIVING.

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Just drove the car home from the shop and it finally drives well! The idle could still be a little smoother, but honestly I may just be looking too hard for an issue that now isn't there. My engine light is still on with a code 33, but I haven't had a chance to reset the codes so it may go away when I do. Otherwise the car is driving well now, and I think it's time for some cosmetics. Still have to source a set of front GFX, or at least give mine a quick shot of paint so they don't look SO bad. Also have a minor dent on the driver door that I need pulled. It's about to pound rain so I'll have to pick back up tomorrow, and when I do, I'll post some pics

Re: New addition - 89’ Iroc 350
Well she was almost up and running. Had it parked outside of work and as I went walking out to it, I noticed that it was leaking fuel, and had created a puddle in the intake manifold near the front 2 pass side injectors. Went out this morning to drive it back over to the shop that did the work and she starts basically dumping gas. I wear suits at work, so I can't really go play with a gas soaked IROC to see what the issue is, so a flatbed's on its way to take the car back to the shop. Yay
