I currently own number 11 and 12 mecham camaros. To anyone who doesnt know me on Facebook. I figured id share and update the status on the 2 cars and give information on the mecham cars. I have had #12 mecham 1986 magnum iroc-z for a few years. Its the black and gold combo with the tan interior with recaros. I got it from a guy in arizona. It has around 78-79k miles on it. Its a 350/700r4 combo car. Was advertised at 360hp/360tq. I currently tore the car down to a shell for the most part and started from scratch as i noticed a few issues that i didnt like( mix matched shock and struts, and fuel rail issues) so i decided to tear it down ans refresh it. I really tried not to change a whole lot on the car for the most part but adding some up to date parts. Kinda went with a theme. What would they do of they had parts available in the 90s versus 1986. I upgraded the suspension, while retaining all the mecham parts, but added a dse front sway bar kit, tubular k, a arms, torque arm, panhardn caster plates, steering shaft with bearing, strut tower brace, and frame connectors. Along with koni yellows. The car still has the dana 44, drop springs, aluminum driveshaft, droop limiters, a upgraded talon brace, baer brakes up front. Still has the mecham dual spahl fans, the exhaust was missing a catback so i have a gmmg exhaust for it with borla tips. I got rid of the standard tpi that was on it and put on a slp t ram. With the dual snorkel and what not. The engine bay was resprayed as the Arizona heat destroyed the paintn still need to have the outside redone. Currently the car isnt running as im having a injector pulse issue. Thats the basic update on the mecham #12. As for #11 i bought that recently from a gentleman in Georgia, thanks to a lead from a friend. I contacted the owner we worked out a price and through alot of back and forth i bought the car, its a carbed 406/5 speed nash car, 425 hp setup, also has the dana 44. Currently i haven't touched, time constraints and working the car has just sat since taking delivery as i have multiple cars to be done before i get to this one. I have changed the hood but thats about it, it needs the brakes gone through as well as the carb rebuilt or replaced with a better one. We will see, it does currently run but it needs some work to be a 100% again. The car has 22-23k miles on it, its basically a stipped down race car, with almost no options but the ones from mecham really. I have been collecting mecham stuff for about 8-10 years now. It fascinates me what they did and how overlooked the mse cars are, they dont get the credit they deserve really. Also another reason im posting so i can shed some light on these cars that are rarely seen or spoken about. Any questions lmk
#11's motor and interior. I'm pretty sure I drove #12 back in '89 or '90 IN a parking lot SCCA course. Knew a guy, who knew a guy, when my car was down.
