Hello all,
I have been bumping around on the board looking for a 3rd gen for a while, and a few months back ran into one that Jaysz28 had for sale. (92 Camaro z28 convertible). We worked on the deal and I skipped over to FL and got it onto a trailer bound for TX.
I cannot impress on how good of a process that Jason made the deal. He took a ton of more pics and we talked over every question I had on the car at length. He even helped me out with getting a set of wheels/tires that I found online there close to him, and he got them installed on the car. Great dude...if he has anything up for sale...no doubt its good.
Have a bunch of ideas on what to do with it, but for a while I am just going to enjoy tooling around town.
And oh hell I have a red car!!!
Some shots of getting there and loading up.
And one of Jason's friends seeing us on the road back to TX
Congrats on the purchase!
Where are you in Texas? I'm 65 miles south of Fort Worth. I picked up my 91 TA Vert in Shertz, and my 94 TA Vert in Pratt, KS. (Drove it home.)
Thanks guys....been wanting to get one forever. Working on figuring how much of the emissions stuff to put back onto it so I can get it past the inspection for plates and title transfer at the moment. But the first project on the list is a new AC system. Been here in TX my whole life and its just too damn hot to do much of anything right now...much less tool around with a black top up or down.
Roorancher - I am out on east end of H-town...halfway to Baytown

What you want is an antique plate. There is no inspection or emissions and you only have to renew every 5 years.
An antique plate will work for his purposes, depending on how he uses the car. He will not require inspections.....The problem is that he is in Harris County, I believe, and the Cops and Sheriff's departments there are a bunch of horse's asses.
Legally speaking, Antique Plates severely restrict what you can and cannot do with the vehicle. Here is the line right out of the Texas Transportation Code:
"is used exclusively for exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest and is not used for regular transportation."
There is other wording that refers to taking it to be repaired, and test drives, but that's it.
That's why I have "classic" plates on my 91 and 94 TA Verts, and only "antique" plates on my 71 Cheyenne Shortbed.
True, it does depend on your local cops and how much you actually drive the car, great words of warning. My thirdgen is a car show only type of car, that and "going to get fixed" a lot
Its been an adventure for sure....been sent to the curb on a few places when they open the hood for the "visual" part of it all. Have already looked at both types of plates and going to be getting the classic version.
Going to just get a cat put in get the right headers for it. I can get things running within the rules as I am not going to make her a super high hp car...have the vmax for my go fast urges.
