My '85 Firebird
Bought this about a month ago for $1700 even. She only has 96K miles on the car, 20K on the motor (rebuilt block, the original blew when the oil pump failed). Has the 2.8L... I might change that out later down the road but for the time being i'm more than happy with her. She is my first car, and being a Firebird T/A fan since I was younger helped me decided to bring her home.

Now the one question I have been trying to find an answer to, is does this emblem belong on the door handle? It's only on the passenger side, and I have not found any reproductions emblems or any images of other Firebirds with it. Any information would be much appreciated!

What a great first car to have. I can remember my moment I had a set of wheels to call my own. One of the great days in life.
I'm sure some pontiac guys will clarify, but yes I think the emblems on the door were original and there should be a pair.
Reason I replied is I'm interested if you know the paint code for yours. Might be on a metal stamped tag on top of the radiator or in the RPO codes if you know em.

Re: My '85 Firebird
Thanks for the info! Looks like i'm on the hunt for another emblem for the drivers side now...
The color she is now is after market. The guy I bought it from had it painted a year or so ago and the clear coat is starting to go bad due to the kid before me not keeping wax on her. He called it "Midnight Blue" but I always thought midnight blue had a bit more purple in it...
I'll look up the codes in the morning. I'm curious myself what it started life as. The bumper mounts under the hood show signs of being silver, but a scratch on the rear spoiler shows a light blue. I never thought to check for the numbers.
They guy I bought it from bought it for his grandson who drove it his senior year in high school. He left for college and wanted to sell the car not being able to take it with him... Out of all the people to look at the car, he seemed determined to sell it to me after he heard how I planned to fix her up back to factory appearance over time.
