I am now a co-owner of a 1985 Firebird!
Tonight me and my brother went to purchase an 85 bird, its for my girlfriend (bought for $750)
interior is trashed, but I can fix that pretty easily (please no offers for parts)
paint is pretty fresh, only two spots where there is body damage and its small areas.
the drive home was brutal on both me and my brother, with no brakes except for the emergency brake, including no brake lights...
it was a short drive though so it wasnt too bad.
its a v6/a4 car, tranny just rebuilt three years ago, not driven the past year, so its still good.
the hack of a son of the guy who was selling it cut the Idle speed control sensor so unless its at operating temp it will stall out when you come to a stop but other than that the car drives pretty good.
however the drivers side wheel felt like it had a bad bearing from what my brother said, i havent driven it yet...
pics and updates will come soon, I plan on hitting the junkyard early saturday or sunday if i can scrounge up a few bucks for the IAC connector.

so who's gonna do all the work?
I like how the car needs a decent amount of work to become, well... decent, until i can afford the crate engine and new tranny for my car, I'm SOL for things to fix on it.

You spent that much money on your girlfriend?
Looks good from the picture. Body is straight on that side and paint looks decent. Much luck with it. Your so sweet.

Just hope I can get the whole "I'm not getting my hands dirty" mentality to get thrown out the window!
Of course she'll get a nice greasy/gritty hand-hug, only if she doesn't help out, lol.
In my opinion, the car was worth the $750 paid, I have all the receipts for all work done to the car, and just the transmission alone was $1500 to rebuild so I'd like to think the tranny is worth a very nice chunk of what the car itself was bought for!
Its had regular oil changes, and my brother says the motor probably has little to no sludge.
new windshield, radiator, shocks, struts, etc
only thing I need to do is fix the brakes, solder on a new IAC connector, and little wiring gremlins.

Nothing like a woman helping out when fixing a car. My gf helped me fix my vette many a times. Call that quality time together
