engine swap 350 to 454

I have had a 97 Trans Am with the LT1 350 for a few years, and it just isn't cutting it. I just bought a 81 GMC 1/2 Ton with a 454. I am gathering my money and getting ready to make the swap. I know the stock 6 speed has to go and that automatic will be the way to go. I also know that the suspension, brakes, drivetrain, exhaust, and rearend will all need to be beefed up. I am sure that there will be more work than that going into it also. I hope to have about $10,000 in the next couple of months to complete this. My problem is that I don't know what to get or where to get it.

I am looking for any advice that can be sent my way.

Thanks

Seeing as this is a thirdgen board ('82-'92) I'm pretty sure this will get locked. So hopefully I can get in here before it does. It would be MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH easier to just stroke the LT1. You could get a 383 or 396 stroker kit, make all kinds of power and not run into the fitment issues your are going to face putting a carb'ed motor into a 4th gen. DId you know you have to cut the top of the firewall to get the carb to fit? Your going from a small block to a big block, so the motor mounts will be different, clearances for exhaust, among many other issues!!

Save yourself the headache and buy a stroker kit!

Just beef up the LT1, $10,000 into the car the way it is now and you'll have MUCH greater power numbers than you will if you try to slap that 454 in there.
