on seconds thought...I may have a set of old ones, I think they will interchange with 2000 seats...I'll have to check
Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
[quote=Twin_Turbo;5002954]Fabbed a washer tank for it, just like on the camaro. no canton or similar quality welds but it'll do. It will be anodized gold too but Ill bring a whole batch in to do at once so I end up with the same color (and hopefully a better price because it cost 100$ to do 1 reservoir and 1 fuel filler cap)

Hey Marck
How are you going to make the wiper washer system work again? Can't remember but didn't the original tank have a washer pump in it? Been so long I don't remember much of the car. Also why didn't you paint the underhood gloss black instead of flat? With your LSx are you going to try and fab a air box to draw air in from the hood scoop?
It's coming along really nice though! Miss the car LOL .... You going to make me a video of it on the autobahn when it's done LOL.

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
I figured flat black would be more "road fighter" that gloss black. I can't stand shiny ****
I like a machined look, flat anodized, flat black wheels, gold but I hate chrome, polished and bling. A lot more on the car will be flat black, the seat will be the recaros that I intended for the camaro. They have a suede matte texture to them. Same on the dash and interior, no shiny stuff anywhere.

The washer pump is inside the wiper motor, it slides in like a cartridge.
You can see it here

LSx will be carbed, front distributor.... I may try to do an air box that hooks up to the hood.
I will have to fabricate headers for the thing also... I was about to buy an engine but I was thinking a tall deck would be nicer... I was thinking 479 w/ LS7 heads, LS7 carb intake... sounds like something that would run
It's either that or a 440 LS7.
I will shoot a vid... for sure!

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
I may have the reservoit anodized black if stands out too much. The other one will be the same color. I want to use black valve covers w/ gold pontiac sctipt so maybe a black reservoir would be better. Probably painting the rad black too. A gold block might be an idea... a little smokey yunick then again... smokey knew a thing or s2 about colors and syling LOL. Black & gold, just my kind of thing.

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
id say do both tanks gold, block or intake or something on the engine gold so you even it out between the sides and middle of the engine bay. the rad cover may stick out a tad too much gold, but gold pontiac lettering on the valve covers would work too

I had actually been looking at that gold mylar foil for heat shielding but it's a little too rich for my blood...and I suck at applying decals and stickers, it would never turn out nice

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
LOL OK OK
So, I now know what will be powering the car.. it'll be a 495 LSX w/ modified LS7 heads, RHS tall deck spacers, LS7 carb intake, front drive distributor. No dry sump, it will be a wet sump engine. IF I was goig to do a dry sump it would be a real system, external 4 or 5 stage pump...not the stock GM stuff.

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
I got some stuff in, I can finalize my SFC/trans crossmember.TQ arm mount combo now. Also got some new wheels to fit on it, they're my buddies but I got to make sure they look OK on mine so I can get those wheels and paint the centers gold. (will ahve to check caliper clearance)

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
Got the inner SFCs/trans mount and otherstuff combo done. All welded up, ready for the powdercoater to redo it. These parts like the SFCs all come with junk coating, simply coated over the mill scale and everything and no primer coat. My coater blasts, primers and top coats. Much much more durable that this junk. I installed the same type of SFCs under my gray iroc and the coating is flaking off and there's surface rust under it.

My buddy bought some wheels for his silver 83 TA. Couldn't pass it fitting them. They may look good on there in gold but I fear they do not offer enough caliper clearance. Mixed feelings on them though

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
Here is Twin_turbo's car. This was after it was repainted and reupholstered. Very old pictures of it when I first bought it.

The N-89's were original to the car but rims were painted gold to match bottom. A few weeks after picture was taken all it's bowling ball covers were stolen and N-24 rims were put on the car. At that time the KITT guys drove prices up and didn't want to speend the bucks for more wheel covers.

Looks like it had a gold bird on the rear back then, there's a silver one on it now but have a nos gold replacement.
Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
Always had a silver one probably just the way sunlight hitting it. Think only recaros in 82-83 had gold birds but then 84 all had gold bird. But I could be wrong to that picture is arould 10 years old maybe more and my memory only good for a week or two now.

Re: 1982 Trans Am, it needs some lovin too
No man still waiting on 495LSX, the builder is stalling an stalling, should go next week then a month and a half in the container
I ran out of parts for the 82 TA and the 83 stepside so I was back on my 87 IROC LOL
I was getting withdrawals and almost tore into the 88 since I still have a new retrofit T56 for it and some susp. parts that need to go on....and I want to build a new motor for it since this one has maybe 300.000 miles on it? LOL. Certainly more than 150K. Still running strong but I need more grunt in it...buuuttt... the heads and some other parts for that engine to be built are...you guessed it, in the container
I was so close to dismantling the 88 LOL

A little fuel pump w/ pre and post filter. -10 fuel lines. I may end up running the pressure regulator in the back and using a dead headed line to the carb. Don't feel like running 2 -10 lines to the front. I can run 1 through my pass side SFC
