1990 GTA, Questions!
Well,
I found a 1990 Trans Am from a buddy of mine that's had it sitting in his garage for about 8 years now, just pulled it out and started it that's about it. Only has two dents and they're extremely small. Body is straight as an arrow!
Well here's my questions, It's got GTA written all over it. From the rims, pouch on the dash, 350 tpi, GTA vin #, steering wheel, gold eagles on the sail panel, gold GTA emblems, to the seats to everything else that screams GTA. I'm not very fluent with GTA's or Firebirds in general but this one caught my eye. If someone doesn't mind telling me what it is that i've got that would really help. I've owned many 3rd gen Camaro and this being my first bird! Only 17 Btw.
Just ask me for the pictures you need and i'll post whatever!
only got her for $2,500, 104k miles.

Re: 1990 GTA, Questions!
Hard to say if it is a real GTA or not, as someone installed 91/92 GTA tailights onto it so it was essentially "touched" at one point. The nose is missing the GTA emblem holes and emblem, and the door panels look like a regular Trans Am to me. I have a '90 GTA too by the way, Black on Black w/T-Tops, it originally came with a 5-speed and 305...

Re: 1990 GTA, Questions!
Vin will not depict "GTA". Only RPO codes Y84 from 87 up to 92 depict GTA options.
Also GTAs did not have front fender vent like Trans ams had.
Unless the were filled or fenders replaced ??
So far looks like a GTA.... Glove pouches came w/ a bird or GTA on it, no telling.
Nice looking car, you did well at $2500. Good luck w/ her.
WOOOO - I just looked at your engine, you have SLP runners on that thing, if they are factory, you may have a rare deal on your hands, check RPOs - engine options. RPO list should be in the console -inside or under lid.
LOL- Now that you are a bird guy, lets get the species right, it's not an eagle ... its a Pheonix. Too funny, (Sometimes known as a screaming Chicken)

I also noticed that the waterneck is a traditional LG4/L69 style one (and its facing the wrong way), and that the upper radiator hose goes around the alternator instead of in front of it to connect to it. The vapor canister is missing too. The runners are definitely a score, but I doubt they came with this GTA from the factory though...

Thanks a lot guys!
Just got into the RPO Codes:

Seems to check out in every field i'd be concerned with, Seems like at $2,500 it was a steal for all of the options! Jusy my opinion though. She needs a wing, bad. Hawks the best place to get one from?

Also the RPO Codes were located in the Back in the little storage/lock box. Not the first time i've had to look in there for RPO codes. Where do you guys think the Factory build sheet is? I've found them under seats, in the doors and under the front seats in 1st Gen camaros, on the tank in 60's vettes and a 71 Trans

Also in need of a Center console Lid, Dash pad, Steering wheel and All new Emblems along with a new rear wing, Hub caps and some other small parts. Also putting a new exhaust on it, most like LT headers and full Duals all the way back, no cats.
Opinions on where to buy all of these individual items?

Re: 1990 GTA, Questions!
What do you guys think the value of this car is? There is absolutely no tears in the seat, rear seat look like they've never been sat in. The owner before didn't have kids or anything else so theres no spills on the floor or random gunk anywhere. The carpet and seats are going to be coming out to get completely cleaned and refreshed. i ordered a new Dash pad and wing, The wing is absolutely destroyed. the car is getting the two dents taken out this week and getting buffed out, if the paint comes out better than i'll keep it, if not and the value is worth it then i'll repaint it.

Re: 1990 GTA, Questions!
There another thread with "Hemmings" value .... a bit on the dreamy side, in time these cars may be worth this much. My best guess if it runs good and you do some cosmetic work ..... $6K all day long.
1990 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA
Coupe 2dr 8-cyl. 350cid/235hp EFI

$9,036
(All dollar amounts are in US dollars)
See this vehicle's value history...

Notes: -10% for 6-cyl. +10% for T-tops. -10% for auto (exc GTA).
4
$6,500
Condition 4: Fair
#4 cars are daily drivers, with flaws visible to the naked eye. The chrome might have pitting or scratches, the windshield might be chipped. Paintwork is imperfect, and perhaps the fender has a minor dent. The interior could have split seams or a cracked dash. No major parts are missing, but the wheels could differ from the originals, or the interior might not be stock. No major customizations have been made. A #4 car can also be a deteriorated restoration. "Fair" is the one word that describes a #4 car.
3
$8,700
Condition 3: Good
#3 cars could possess some, but not all of the issues of a #4 car, but they will be balanced by other factors such as a fresh paint job or a new, correct interior. #3 cars drive and run well, but might have some incorrect parts. These cars are not used for daily transportation but are ready for a long tour without excuses, and the casual passerby will not find any visual flaws. No major customizations have been made. "Good" is the one word description of a #3 car.
2
$12,100
Condition 2: Excellent
#2 cars could win a local or regional show. They can be former #1 cars that have been driven or have aged. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, but will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, chrome, glass and interior will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine compartment. The vehicle will drive as a new car of its era would. No customizations have been made. The one word description for #2 cars is "excellent."
1
$17,300
Condition 1: Concours
Condition #1 vehicles are the best in the world. The visual image is of the best car, unmodified, in the right colors, driving onto the lawn at the finest concours. Perfectly clean, the car has been groomed down to the tire treads. Painted and chromed surfaces are mirror-like. Dust and dirt are banned, and materials used are correct and superbly fitted. No customizations have been made. The one word description for #1 cars is "concours."

Re: 1990 GTA, Questions!
Seems like a legit GTA to me. Nice find, its a super rare year given the 90 model years very short production run.

Re: 1990 GTA, Questions!
In this case probably no given the other mods, but the later GTA's (91 and 92 if I remember right, not certain about 90's) could be ordered with SLP runners, tri-y headers, the 2 on on the left catback and re-cal prom from the factory as dealer intall option. It was a performace package that was even in the dealer brochures back then.

Looks Legit to me. good looking car for 2500.
sadly I remember a time when that car could be had for under 2000. That's a whole other discussion though
