Hey there, I joined this site back in 2006 when I got my very first car, it was a 84' Firebird with the 2.8. I loved that car and had restored it to its original condition. Then I managed to get T-boned back in June and decided to let it go. A week later I had come across at 84' T/A that I instantly fell inlove with. With the insurance money I broke even with the new T/A. It seemed all original but well kept up. Just a bit dirty from sitting at the dealer. When I saw the Electric fan right away I knew this car had to be special. So I drove her home.
Now I know it's been a few months that I've owned it, but I already put my fair share of miles on it for the summer. It's been a great reliable car with now 117k. Runs just as good as it did back in 84'. I will posts pics of my progress as I go along. I got inspired to start my own build thread from reading Motobooks. His work has been inspiring for me. I will be trying my best to do a resto mod restore without changing its appearance. I will post a few pics later on.
The car is now in storage for the winter so right now I'd like to start on the interior. I've been told it's the uncommon interior and that it was used on the daytonas. Hope you guys enjoy!

As far as the interior is concerned, I am pretty sure all 1983 Daytonas had Recaro buckets, so not clear as to what they meant by that statement.
Anyway, it's a great looking car. Keep the updates coming
Sorry I should have been more clear, I was told that color interior mine has is somewhat uncommon. I'm not sure if it is or isn't.Originally Posted by motobooks

Your interior color looks to be "light/medium sand grey" I have the same interior in my 84. It is VERY hard to find parts in this color, I spent two years to find NOS front seat belt receivers and paid dearly for a pair. I have yet to find replacement seat belts/retractors in this color.
From the research I did I think it was only used in our cars for two years 83-84. It was also used in a Buick GN, but that doesn't help us with replacement parts.

Yes I've actually had never seen this color interior before I bought the car. I didn't like at first and was gonna swap it to a charcoal, but it's grown on me.
Right now I'm in the process of tearing the interior apart and giving it a good deep cleaning. Might throw in a heater core while I'm in there.

It's been awhile since I've last updated, haven't done a whole lot. I replaced the headliner with a ABS, new rear KYB shocks and Moog springs. Replaced the Intake gaskets as they started leaking last summer. Also put the stock wheels back on. Here's a couple pics.
Here's another

How was that project? Any trouble re-covering the ABS, or manuvering it into place?Originally Posted by 84'Firebird

Very easy actually! It came pre covered already. I had to cut the dome light hole a bit larger for the map lights. No sag or anything. Got it cheap off amazon along with the T-Top Shades.Originally Posted by DynoDave43

Sounds good. I had assumed when I saw those that they were not yet covered. And, my sun shades are missing too. I'll have to look for that deal on Amazon. Thanks for the heads-up.
nice, love it with the original wheels and some white letter tires!
on the ABS headliner, which one did you get?

Thanks! I believe they are made by only one company. It's the same one you get off Hawks or A1.
Here's a update, Put on a LS1 Aluminum driveshaft, shifts smoother. Picked up some original Center Caps. Not a whole lot but it's coming along.

Fantastic T/A love the correct rims! BTW a tell from the factory that you had a 5.0 liter H.O. was the tires were Black side walls while the non L-69's had the White side walls. I like them both ways.
