A couple of pictures of my 86 T/A, Evil TA at the T/A Nats. Didn't make the last two but I'll be there for this years show! I'll be in Custom Class again.
I'm hoping to be there myself for the first time this year. No idea what class and haven't thought about registration yet. I'm not going for an award or recognition but don't want my car parked in the regular parking lot haha! I just want to go for the road trip and to see the other cars!
The pic on the web page is about 2/3 of the cars there. Turnout last year was a littl3e light due to the new location but still not terrible. Should be better this year.
I've never been and would like to go this year - I'll bring my 73 TA unless I pick up a 4th gen I'm trying to buy - either one would be pretty cool. I can't post a picture of the 4th gen, can't let the cat out of the bag too early.
If you've never been, I highly encourage you to attend. It's one of the best shows and the new location is much better than where it used to be located. Hotels are close, plenty of parking, and a few restaurants are close. The new venue is much improved.
The show has grown by leaps and bounds since I started going in 95. The best Trans Ams in the country gather here each year. BTW, I'm not connected to the show in any way. I don't care if you go or not. It's a great time. Wife and I won't miss it each year.
I don't remember how many cars were there last year, but it was a ton.
Tipp City is our favorite part. Great time, good music.
I posted a bunch of pictures last year of all the cars there. Here's a few of the Third Gens, post #276 I think.
There were over 300 cars there last year. Everyone needs to come out and show, the more the better it is!
One of the cars last year was a black and gold 85 Trans Am that had an LT1 swap. I had helped pull the LT1 early in the year, swapped the heads, cam, springs and rocker arms out. They cleaned up the motor and we installed it back into the car and got it running and tuned 1 week prior to the show. It's no 1000 point car or anything like that and because of the motor swap it was put into the Heavy Custom class. That is tough competition with cars that have a lot of chrome and custom paint jobs. Even though there was no way my friends could win a trophy they had loads of fun bringing there car there and talking with fellow car enthusiasts.
First one I went to was 2003 and had gone every year since then but didn't actually show my car until 2009 for the 25th Nats. I missed going 2013 because I spun a rod bearing that weekend.
I have been attending this event for 5 or 6 years. Only entered a car once, I dont like mine getting wet, so the odds are always against me. Had a lead on an enclosed trailer last fall but it didn't work out, so i bought another Bird. Hoping to take my "new" ride this year.
To anyone on the fence about attending, it is a great gathering of Firebirds and Trans Ams. I dont know of anywhere else you can see so many in one place.
There is something there for everyone: survivors, stock, modified, resto mods, custom and all generations are represented.
The new venue is nicer IMO, and has more space, places to eat, etc. I look forward to it every year.
Nice car bestracing! I remember seeing your ride there.
According to Google Maps, the TA Nationals is a 535 mile,8 1/2 hr.one way trip for me
Oh man up, that's like a quick run to Phoenix for me haha!
Google tells me it's 2,214 miles and 32hrs from here. I'll make it non-stop too. Last time I drove cross country I made it from here to Virginia before needing a hotel to crash, nothing but mountain dew and rockstar with some Offspring and Metallica blasting FML lol. I'll for sure be getting there a day early to rest up. I wonder about covered parking and security for the cars, along with a place to wash and detail before the show?
On the way back I'll for sure take my time tho to see the sights or whatever.

I know a fellow from Bakersfield who has made the run to Carlisle PA a few times. Quite the drive.
I just get an image in my mind of you looking like Barry Newman in Vanishing Point.

LMFAO! I dunno about that one, every time I think of that movie the naked chick riding the dirt bike in the desert high as hell is all I can focus on haha!

No covered parking, but people use car covers in the show field. The committee provides security, IDK if its "professional" security or just members on watch-I felt comfortable leaving the MSE out in the lot. Last year at the back of the hotel, they had a "wash station."

That does sound good. Sadly, car shows are a great shopping ground for thieves.
