89 GTA Rebuild
Hi guys, i need some help with my rebuild as its my first car and first rebuild. The vehicle is a 1989 5.7ltr GTA with 142,000. About a year 1/2 ago it blew a headgasket and i decided i wanted to rebuild the motor.
So i stripped it down so i can inspect the cond of the block and replace anything that should or needs replacing etc. I found that the pistons and cylinder walls were in generally good cond, and the block and heads are all good, however the bearings and crankshaft journals were completely shot and needs to be replaced as well some other parts which are worn to excess.
Anyway im about to place a big order of replacement parts from the States as i am in England so i want to make sure i have got everything correct. The replacement parts are for a mostly stock engine, i will be keeping the stock block, heads, pistons + conrods as they are all sound. So its mostly parts for a stock engine rebuild with some slight upgrades like camshaft and headers for some additional power. So can you guys go over what i list and let me know if everything appears correct and have any recommendations if i should change this and that because im starting to get a bit nervous..
So currently my parts list are as follows

Sorry to sound like a plonker but i just want to make sure these items are correct for my engine as its quite expensive on the shipping etc.
And also what gasket kit do you guys recommend and anything else i should be adding to the order?
Many thanks

Re: 89 GTA Rebuild
You can get a Dougs D901 Y-pipe to go with those headers a lot cheaper than the Hooker y-pipe. Unless you have a really good exhaust guy that can custom make you one this D901 pipe is a good deal.

Re: 89 GTA Rebuild
Is there anything else i should be getting whilst im there, i like to get everything i need in one hit, ive added a few more items to the order and added all comp cams kit to the summit racing one is well. So it should be slightly cheaper on the shipping currently its $800 for shipping and $2000 for the parts. But im worried i might forget something and have to do another shipment.
Some other items for the order
