Note the female and male dimples on the first 2 pics. It's for orientation. (ask me how I know) Everything else cleaned, resealed and painted. That high pressure switch was a royal PITA to press in but it went in and it all looks decent enough to go back on the car shortly. Since I've replaced all the seals and the orifice tube in the system, I just need to install the compressor and then the receiver dryer so the system will be sealed up. Before I do that I want to take advantage of the space I have with it out of the way and check the PS reservoir, the t-stat, and the IAC. Everything is just so jammed up on these cars!

Since I was sidetracked, we also pulled the headlight assemblies. When I'd attach battery, we'd hear the passenger side motor whirring and then it would stop. Oddly both headlights opened and closed just fine. Nevertheless we took them apart. One was original with the pellets reduced to powder and of course it also rewarded me with 2 broken bolts. The driver side was a replacement that was fine. Now it's all been cleaned, repaired, lubed, sealed and painted and back on the car.

Other progress: cleaned up the front sway bar and added new bushings. Also dropped the LCA's and added new ball joints and some fresh paint/ also did the springs because we're a little OCD.
Next steps since we went crazy with the hardlines- I need to run the new SS fuel and brake lines. Hopefully my truck/fuel cover will be here shortly and that will wrap up one of the last pieces keeping me from installing the carpet (save for running some audio stuff -for later)
Then it will be on to the interior plastics which I have been experimenting on to find a decent paint for. More to come with that later. Also, my seat covers should be only a few weeks away! Then we'll really be making some progress.

These, female and male? If so, are these spaced equally so that there are 3 positions it would go back together, or are they spaced differently and will only go one way?
I suppose they could go in any orientation but if you want the electronics up top - and you do, then it will ensure that the two dimples under the plug get you lined up correctly.
Correct sir! I had a donor R4 some years ago that "donated" the case. It was a rudimentary cut and then a few relief notches. One guy I saw then welded it back together to make it more user friendly. I don't have a welder so zip ties worked just fine.
If you have the factory service manual it walks you through the repair and there's also an old video from Century Auto Air in AZ that I used some years back when I redid the R4 in my Buick.
BTW, you can buy the rebuild/reseal kit on ebay for like $17. So aside from that kit you'll need the "jig" to remove the case and the tools that help you remove all the other bits.
