I live in the Frederick/Montgomery County area of Maryland and am fed up with crappy half-*** shop work. I want to know where you guys get your QUALITY work done (exhaust, engine, suspension, etc). So what shops do you trust???

Although it's a little far away from Fredneck, F Body Central just around the corner from Ft. Meade.

My girlfriend has had some work done on her '96 1LE at Chesapeake Transmission and has been pleased.

If inside of Frederick then Frederick Performance Center does good work on gears. They installed my gears and they were excellent. Not sure on the other work that they do because I always do my own work unless I don't have the tools. Next time I do gears I'll buy my own pinion depth gauge and do them myself. Then I'll just need a welder and I'll be able to do anything As far as Cylinder Heads go, Advanced Valve Service just outside Frederick (Ijamsville) does good work ... but, it might take you some time to get the preferential treatment.

For the REALLY good work in Frederick you have to have the hookup. So, anything further I tell you isn't worth squat because all of my work was done based on a buddy recommending me to the old school racing shops. Believe it or not - Frederick has an absolutely HUGE amount of old school racers. I've lived here for 10 years and was just turned onto who actually lives in this town. We're talking about guys who were dominating some of NHRA in the 70's-80's. There's also some current racers who have HUGE $$$ and still race on the side. Lots and lots of old school knowledge and talent in Frederick. It's just hard to find. Luckily, I work with a guy who was part of that scene so he has helped me get to know a lot of the unbelievable stuff this town has to offer that I would have never imagined.

There's also a growing import scene here too (unfortunately?). The fastest Supra in the country is owned by the guys in Frederick...

Their shop is called Motorsports Performance. Usually you would probably ignore a shop like this but they have a DynoJet with Wide Band Good prices too ... and they are located right on route 355 behind Ideal Buick.

Thanks man!

Hey, thanks for the response! I have lived in Frederick (outside the city, towards Montgomery County) my whole 23 years. I live right down the street from 75-80 dragway. Anyway, I know there is a lot of good talent around, I just haven't found it quite yet. I bought a 92 Camaro RS L03 5-speed with 68K original miles on it a couple months ago to replace my 92 RS V6 Auto. The new 92 is in good shape, just needed a little cleaning up. So, with 68K its still got a lot of life left in that little 305. For now, I just want to use it as a secondary car and one to experiment on. Just want to do an open element, headers, cat, cat-back, suspension, performance chip. I just want to be spending my $ on quality work this time. The V6 RS had the worst luck with bad mechanics. I'll check up on the info you gave me, thanks again!

Hey bro. I work at F-Body Central. We just moved the shop from Ft. Meade to Arbutus, which is a little closer to you. We do mostly 4th gen work, but I always welcome thirdgens to put the LS1 guys in there place You can PM me for more info, I don't want to tick of the moderators. Trying to become a sponsor here, but the admins won't reply to my PMs or emails.
