?? about historic plates - already searched

I did a search and found the previous posts about historic plates for people's 3rd gens. I just got off the phone with someone who's telling me that telling me that "Make" is Chevy and that my Camaro doesn't qualify for historic. Is there anyone on this board that has dealings with the MVA and can clarify this statement? Because this is the way I read the following statement:

"The vehicle is between 20 and 24 model years old and is a make that the manufacturer no longer produces, as verified by the manufacturer (supporting documentation required). It is not substantially altered, remodeled or remanufactured from it original construction. "

Model years - 82-92
Make - Camaro
Manufacturer - Chevrolet

My car won't pass inspection, nor will it pass emissions and I don't feel like registering this car in Illinois for the next 3 years, so please help!

Some people have gotten them, some havent..i guess it depends who you see at the MVA. Just print out the applicantion online, and take it there and see if you can get away with it.

goodluck.

I got my historic plates for the 83 in Bel Air Md. ....The guy was so confused that he gave me 2 sets of plates and had to get a supervisor to re-do the credit card.... only costs 30 or 33 bucks.
You have just have to tell them what you want and be firm about it!

Yeppirs, I got them for my '79 malibu, and by then they had started using the malibu name again. They said, "yeah, like an elcamino right?" Sure, kinda.
