History channel does thirdgens :)
Dunno how many of us watch this series on the history channel, but they are doing thirdgens soon!
1988 Iroc-Z Camaro.
Airs on Wednesday, January 5 at 9:00pm ET
History heads to the drag strip in this series as popular cars of the past are transformed into fine-tuned machines, revamped and ready for the speedway. Part reality show, part history, Full Throttle lets car lovers get under the hoods of their favorite rides. Two teams are given the same model of car in a similar state of disrepair. Supplied with a garage, tools, and parts, they've got just two days to get their wheels into high gear as they prepare to compete in an all-or-nothing drag race. The winner drives away in both cars; the loser walks away empty-handed; the viewer gets an adrenaline dose of automotive history. In this episode, GM's raging 1988 street machines, Iroc-Z Camaros, get a boost with new superchargers--giving them 70% more horsepower. TVPG

Yeah I've seen this show before! So far they've built up 2 Buick Grand Nationals and 2 1970's Firebirds. It's fairly interesting. They build up these junkers for a drag race and there's a little documentary on the history of the cars they are working on. You should definitely watch it.

Here's a quick rundown of what will happen: They'll throw a bunch of monkeys at the cars, throw on some superchargers, not bother to fix any problems that might pre-exist with the cars, make sure they include the MSD segment, and then they'll proceed to run low 14s at best, with girlie launches. That's assuming they use 350 cars and don't have their heads totally up their a$$ using 305s.
I'll still watch it though!
BTW - If they turn out the same poor performance out of these cars as they did with the Grand Nationals, I'll never watch it again.

my guess is if they use 305's...they will barely break 14's...if the use the 350's maybe low 14's...i'm pretty dure they'll use 305's though, i mean, why waste to refectly fine 350 irocs??

I'll watch it just to see 3rd Gens on T.V. Outside of the 1980's IROC races, they're not too common are they....on tv that is.

On another note, looks like there was LOTS of driver error, which I guess is to be expected with folks that are pretty green and rather excited.
I dunno what all the hype about manual shifting was about, leave the thing in drive and roll into the throttle. It's not rocket science.

You know, I sat here and watched that show with my wife. As soon as they said manuel shifting, I was like "that's stupid", there going to loose. Just like ya said a lot of driver error. Has anyone hear ever tried to manuel shift a stock shifter at the track? Not easy, wants to slip up into other gears.
Old guys = Good sportsmanship
Young guys = K.I.S.S.
and now they're doin'

P.S. I think it was more like 55% Increase in power. Still good though. About $30.50 Per 1 HP Increase. Not bad.

They know as much about cars as Platinum does.
