Re: anyone have a console lid spring for a 91 firebird?

I'm replacing my console lid spring. What's the best way to remove the old one? The "L" end part is stuck into some plastic. I tried pulling on it with some needle nose pliers but no give. I'm wondering if there is a cap on the other side that might need to be removed first. Do the metal ends just pop in or am I missing some end caps? Thought id ask before prying on it with a flathead driver and jamming in the replacement.

Re: anyone have a console lid spring for a 91 firebird?

For those interested, the rear ash tray first has to be removed. Remove the ash tray lid, remove the 2 phillips screws, pull out the assembly. Make a note of the ash tray orientation for installation later. Next, pull/twist on the old console spring to pop it out of the plastic hole piece. Swap in a new one. Then connect the other end of the console spring to the console lid metal bar. Once that's secure, install the ash tray again.
