starting off with this..an 84 trans am, intentions are for full ls1 drivetrain/fuel system, brakes, and steering rack, i already have all the 4th gen parts for this, i just need to get the parts in order to merge them as one

good start. im in s central pa too.

 

i've hit sort of a snag, i have the t/a sitting here in my carport, it runs/drives but needs a little work, and needs 98% of the interior replaced (i removed everything but the door panels, headliner, dash/column/wheel bc it was absolutely trashed)
but now i also have a 91 firebird sitting here with a blown motor..
so my dilemma is do i pull a running motor ou tof hte 84 t/a to put the ls1 in it..
or do i put the ls1 in place of the 6 in the 91 firebird

i picked up the 91 bird for a damn good price and its really nice, interior is in great shape just needs detailed..fenders are both dented (pass side can be popped back out probably..ds needs replaced)

what i'm thinkin for now i should do is put the ls1/t56 into the 91, and just replace the carb on the 84 t/a and tuneup etc..find new interior for it little by little and antique it like i had planned next year..and maybe later down the road try finding another ls1/t56 for a reasonable price

 

Good deal man! that sounds like it will be a heck of a project! Wish you were out western pa more, then i'd get a chance to see it

i personallly like 84 TA's better than 91-92's firebirds so i'd put the ls1 in the 84

 

i really bought the 91 bird bc it was too good to pass up, i dont like the 91-92 bumper covers but i'm half thinkin i might be able to find a decent set of 82-84 bumper covers for it or at the very least 85-90..and put those on there with the proper headlight assemblies and i'd be plenty happy
i love the 84's with the aero kit....when i saw the 84 i bought i said it was mine before i even knew the price..it didnt even matter LOL

Just curious. One thing to consider it the '84 t/a should have ws6 handling package with should be better suited for the LS1 power. Either way I'm interested in the results.

 

the 84 does have the ws6 package..bbut in 84 that wasn't much..from what i understand in 85 the standard t/a suspension was the same as the ws6 from 84..
i was going to replace everything all around as far as suspension though so it wouldnt have mattered
