yeah, literally almost completely bare on the inside (not even carpet), but some of the trunk plastic was still there (but hard to get at without getting past the locked trunk).
Most of the body panels looked ok though.
Thanks for posting your findings and I'll post whatever I find whenever I go down to Stafford or Fredericksburg. They seem to be pretty active yards so you never know what will show up.
I stopped at the Fredericksburg pick a part yesterday (10/30/2014) and saw two 3rd Gen Firebirds and one 3rd Gen Camaro (photos attached). Definitely still some meat on those bones depending on what you're looking for. One of the Firebirds was a soft top - don't see those every day.
oh - and the white soft top has a 82-84 style hood with the scoop just in case anyone was looking for one of those.

Cool, thanks for the info. Will have to ride up there soon and check those out!
What color interior did that vert have?im looking for some vert parts if anyone is willing to pull them and ship
Car is a '92, converted in Nov 1991. Car had 150K miles.
Interior is grey, and not in particularly good condition.
The top is trashed. Bows laying on the inside of the car. Canvas is shredded, and has let rain in for probably a long time. we had over an inch yesterday, so that did not help matters any.
Front seat belts were in tatters, so I left those.
The rear belts are unlike any I have ever seen before. Instead of the shoulder harness conecting to the tonneau, there were hoops on the rear deck under the tonneau, covered with carpet, that the rear belts retracted into. They looked like they were in pretty good shape, but I left them. Trunklid was full of rust, and tonneau was not in good shape.
Are there any good ones, other than Mitchells? I've tried a bunch of them repeatedly over the years, and came up empty. Fitzgeralds in Lincoln DE will occasionally have a third gen, but I don't think I've ever found any parts worth picking there.

And don't forget Donovan's in Georgetown DE (maybe/sometimes called Fitzgeralds now?). They haven't had any thirdgens for years, unfortunately. This one time years ago, I pulled a Camaro dash pad cover. Not the pad, but an aftermarket plastic cover that goes over the pad. Went to pay, guy wanted like $40 for it. I was stunned, and said no thanks. He starts lecturing me about how bad my dash pad must look, if I need a cover (not a single crack, thanks ). I just walked out.
well hit up Friendly Auto Parts in fort washington MD yesterday, found out i may soon be related to the owner.
they only had one thirdgen that i could find, i was only able to look for a few minutes as i was there to pull the bumper off of a Ram and not really looking for my cars
anyways it was a red V6 Bird i believe it was a 91 as it had the newer nose on it, top is crushed in and hood is messed up, rear hatch and glass are there and in good shape, spoiler is gone

That would be the coolest thing ever! I'd be giving him advice at family functions, like you don't need 45 identical Pontiac Grand Am's in the salvage yard.

hahaha i'll keep that in mind, owner is the grandfather of my sister in-law's fiance, if that isn't a mouth full.
there were 2 birds and 2 camaros(all third gens) int he crazy rays by glen burnie maryland, only got to look at 1 camaro however because i went for parts for a mazda
There is a Guy in Glen Burnie who has a stock pile of 3rd gen Camaros and Birds. Check out Craigslist, he is advertising on there.
Jason is a decent guy; I've done business with him on countless occasions. That said, cash-and-carry is the way to go. There have been well-documented shipping issues with lots of people. He used to be on this site, but was banned a few years back https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/clas...1-2-weeks.html
I hope he gets all the shipping woes cleared up; I like having a vendor close to home with a good inventory of parts.
stopped by pick a part in Stafford, VA today (6/19/2016) and they had a pretty decent 83 Firebird. The lower dash panels were in good shape; rear plastic was there but pretty baked. Rear sun shade looked to be in good shape but I didn't unroll it all way.
Been a while but I stopped by Pick a part in Fredericksburg, VA. They had a few third gens: 82, 85, and 86 Firebirds, all in pretty rough shape but maybe something there depending on what you're lookin for. The also had an 84 Camaro. The interior of the Camaro was rough but aside from a missing air cleaner, the engine bay looked largely unmolested. Still had the stock Q-jet carb even.
Definitely subscribing to this thread! I'm in NOVA, and I'm going to need a whole dash hull (not pad) for my '85 IROC as soon as I'm up to tackling the project. Mine's cracking down the center and around the center top air vents. I'll be needin' to make the rounds to these places! Never knew there were so many in this general area. Thanks for starting the thread Caveman
Yeah man
I'd encourage people to post whatever they find on this thread. Pick a part has their inventory online and they go through a lot of cars, so you never know what will show up. www.pickapartva.com
I visited 234 Pick Ur Parts in Manassas VA on Saturday. There were two 91 Camaros, both T-top 305 RS's. One was Dark Red missing its engine, and the other was Blue with a complete deluxe interior including a cassette player (UN6). Both had the 16' wheels. The Blue car still had nice tail lights because the hatch was closed and locked. Prices are fair and the yard is open daily.

Yes. +1 on that
...and unlike the junkyard, 3 or 4 other parts were not destroyed, getting one off. The guy is careful of the cars. It’s a real service. Probably 10-12 3rd gens there the other day.

He used to go by the name Third Gen Customs..screwed many people over on here and ebay. There are a few threads in the feedback section. Be careful
