I know it's not called GM nationals anymore, but it should be. And since I couldn't find anyone post about it yet, I'm starting a thread. I'm planning to go, last time I went was 2008. This year will include a T/A jump in honor of Burt passing last fall. Anyone going?

I wanted to go either last year of the year before, whichever was the 50th anniversary of the Firebirds, but ended up not going and driving to Ohio to get my Formula instead. Drove past the grounds a few times and heard how big the shows were out there. Do the now “Chevy Nationals” feature any Pontiacs or did they try to get rid of them all together?

Its about 3 hours from me, so Im not sure if I’ll end up going or not. Would make for a long day.

 

Like i said, i haven't been there since '08, but i appears to be similar to past years. Classes are condensed, I noticed. I'm going for fun not for an award and to take my daughter for the first time. She enjoyed spring Carlisle, so this should be even better.

 

I would love to go, but I have to work all weekend that whole weekend. unsure about getting time off. If I can, I'll take the car.

I was there with a newer Camaro but I think there were less than a dozen 3rd gen Camaros. Carlisle’s has to figure out how to make this show work. I heard the Camaro Nationals in Frederick, MD is done. This was always on the same weekend.

Lots of Fieros, not sure where they all came from.

 

what a bummer. less than 12 3rd gen camaros? sad to hear. I was unable to make it this year due to work, and with my job ican't just call out sick and get a free day of fun... nor can I just not show up. If not for work, I would have been there. I probably would have done both the Camaro Nats (sat) and then the Chevy Nats (sunday) that weekend. What do you mean the Camaro Nationals is "done"? Anyone got a list of the 3rd gen class winners or photos of the 3rd gen classes?

 

i probably haven't been able to attend GM Carlisle in 10 years now. i think last time i went it was the last year the Camaro Nationals was still held at Carlisle.
it's crazy how few thirdgens are represented at this show. same thing happened when i went to the 40th anniversary of the F-body in Warren, MI 2007. i was one of only 2 thirdgen Trans Ams there. there were only a handful of thirdgen camaros too. it was mostly first and second gen F-bodies. still fun though.

 

Yes, I never imagined there could be so much interest in Fiero's. But I agree, Carlisle events has to do something. I think going back to calling it GM Nationals is a start. I think some people think its only Chevy. Last time I was there for it was '08 so the new Camaro wasn't even out yet and even back then I could see things getting worse. But we still have to support these events because there may be a day when there isn't any. I was glad I was able to bring my daughter and she enjoyed it. Our kids are the future for this hobby.

 

I've been noticing that with every f-body related event, even the Bandit Run last week only had 2 third gen T/A's that I could see in pics. I plan to go F-body Beach Bash this October in Myrtle and it looks like low 3rd gen turnout in the pics of years past. Maybe I'll start a thread for that and try to boost interest.

 

the bandit run is on my list of things to do once i get my car running. hopefully it doesn't get cancelled before i can attend.
building a custom car from the ground up is a way bigger task then i ever imagined. i'll never do this again.

 

There is no show on Sunday. Carlisle trimmed it back to Friday and Saturday only.

Anyone going to the Super Chevy Show at Maple Grove in a couple weeks?

 

oh man, it used to be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday just a few years ago. gee-wiz the future doesn't look great for carlisle events.

the show was dropped as an actual Super Chevy titled show a few years ago by Super Chevy and is now run by Menards. It is basically the same format though.

 

I was planning on goin on the Bandit Run this year until the route and cost to enter was announced. This year's costs were astronomical IMO. $400 just to enter and the intinerary had some great but very pricey activities along the 7-day event. I wonder if the raise in costs is to limit the participants? I think there still over 300 this year. Hopefully next year...

If the states start opening up for the summer there isn’t going to be anything to do!

If this event is still happening, I do plan to go. I know the 2020 Camaro Nationals in Maryland was canceled.. but if this one is still on, then I'll be planning on going

 

As of today, 6/13, this event is still taking place. As usual, we will be in spots A45 - A48. Stop by and say hello. Please check the Carlisle website for the latest info on what is allowed and not allowed. We look forward to seeing everyone again this year.

At Cars and Coffee today, at least 500 vehicles. Only a handful of mask wearing people. Even the local sheriffs were shaking hands, like pre-2020 days of interaction. Everyone was over the scamdemic, it seems.,

 

No gray GTA seats. We will have gray 4th gen seats and beechwood tan 3rd gen seats

I was on the fence about going only because I am chasing some performance goals on the car at the moment. So even though the car is fully show ready for a big show, I decided to keep dialing in the car performance wise. Went to the dragstrip Friday night for test and tune and ran a 12.07 at 113 mph (my goal for the year is an 11.99) and then the following day (yesterday) I did an autocross event with the car in the big parking lot of MetLife Stadium here in NJ and worked on the handling, steering, and cornering. I'll post photos and videos later tonight in my build thread, but I was super super close to doing the car show at Carlisle and putting off the racing stuff for another few weeks. Either decision would have been great, but I just decided to skip the show. Glad you went and had a fair enough turnout. cool

 

Thanks. It was a good feeling to support Carlisle Events, especially since they went toe-to-toe with the State of PA - and WON!

I plan to go to more Carlisle shows between now and the end of this year, giving them as much support as possible - and the vendors at the event.

I really hope they can get their stuff together and somehow get a bigger draw of cars/people for the future. Its sad to see the big shows dwindle with participation. I hope to keep this hobby alive for decades to come, but we need to keep feeding the hobby and venues.

 

Another hot GM Nationals this past weekend. Met some cool TTA owners. I was impressed to see one TTA last year, but this year we had 3 awesome TTA's show up. Next year should be interesting, stay tuned...
