Fall get together idea that will dissappoint no one(look inside)
how about we pick the agreed upon day in oct., preferably a sunday allowing the most people to attend(due to work) and meet at the Volo Auto Museum? Because anything that gets planned u can count on 75% not showing up and those of us who do can still enjoy all the cars(like 5 large pole barns full) their and hit the antique/junk/small shops section too(for the gf's):-P....
A few of us have been discussing this for awhile and we might as well do it for the fall get together cause no matter what u can easily blow 3-4 hrs their pretty easy....
that way even if 10 of us show its still more than worth the drive :-) and they even have a special section that im sure we could get to reserve for all of us if we know that..
#1 people show
#2 they actually show
#3 they really really come this time :-)
and we could coordinate getting a grill oir two out there and a few coolers full of burgers and frosty beverages lol and i think we could make a good time of it irregardless of who showed but just trying to find viable options so no one gets dissappointed in the end.....drop me a line and hel if omeone lives close to volol and willing to coordinate with me let me know
later and ;ets do it
jeremy/tta/3.8TransAM
PS i think a meet with more than 10 thirdgens would be cool and different :-)

You guys/gal who came out here showed your dedication, so I'll be there for you!

This is a great idea! Iv'e been to Volo a few times, and even if noone shows up, I wouldn't be disappointed, because I could still see all the cool cars! Here is the website: www.volocars.com. I am 99% in on this, but I would need to know the day soon, because I work on Sundays and would need to take it off. I think saturday would be a better day to go, but you guys decide.

I'm up for it, but I will be in the Pontiac though. I've heard from the GTO boards that that place is a bunch of crooks though. Rebadging cars and selling them, misinforming customers on condition, and overpriced.

Oh man, they are VERY expensive there. You will not find a car at Volo for less than 10 or 12,000. Most of them averaging around 15k to 20k in price. I found a few cars over 50,000. And one car going for a full $100,000!
I have to admit though, most of the cars there look simply increadible. I took some pictures there a while ago and I ended up throwing them out because my digital camera could not show the true beauty of those paint jobs.
They do have a 440 Challenger though, as well as some very nice GTO's from the mid 60's and a 2nd Gen GTO's. Very beautiful cars there. I love them. Can't afford them though.
I'd love to meet some fellow third genners though. I'm brand new to my third gen(just got the title today!) but it needs some work. I hope to have it up and running before this though. I need to pick so many brains for this car. But for a grand its not too bad.
I hope my car is running before then. I'd love see some of your cars.

CamRs89, I bought a 89' GTA with 95,000 miles. It needs some work to get the engine running, but I payed about $1,000 for it. The body is in excellent condition, though the paint is showing its age.
It had a blown head gasket and was sitting because the owner didn't want to pay a shop $1,000 to fix it. I have an uncle who does car work. While I'm knew to FI, I did work with my dad on his 1960 Correct Craft boat. Had a nice 250C.I. bigblock in it. yes its a GM big block built by AMC. And yes its 2 50, not 3 50. Its a small displacment for a bigblock though. Its weird. ^_^
Anyway I've done the heads and intake work with my dad on the boat, but its a bit of a leap to the TPI. There's so much more to pull off this engine.

My goal is to have it running in two weeks. My Time to work on it is limited. But It'll have to do. Its never been in a reported accident, but there is that crack on the front bumper. I'll have to look into getting that replaced in the future, but otherwise the body is very clean on this california car. The car was shipped to here in Illinois as of January 2002.

Volo sounds good to me too. Let's get a date chosen and move forward. Sunday's work for me too. The only date that is a problem for me is 10/6. I am on our local fire department and we are planning a firefighter memorial service that day.
On 10/13, I have tickets to the Blackhawk season opener so I would have to leave by about 5 to get there on time but other than that, I should be able to make it.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20TH AT VOLO AUTO MUSEUM
GO TO WWW.VOLOCARS.COM FOR MORE INFORMATION AND LOCATION ABOUT VOLO
as soon as i locate my brochure (unlesss someone else has one and can post it here) i will scan the little map thats on it for everyone to see here
..I will try to call them this week and see if we can reserve the specialty/club area on that date and then we would have an easy time of cooking on grills/etc and have our own place to park :-)

Well, you can definately count me in!
Heres the map:
If any of you want to cruise with me up 294 from the south suburbs, I will be happy to meet up with you somewhere. I know my way up there pretty well.
Jeremy: Do you know what time this is gonna be starting?

like you'd have to drag me anyways, i'm counting down the days
Do you have any idea what time it would start, because the 20th is the day of the big show at Frosted Mug, and that starts at 11. I'm gonna have to be there for a little while, since I'm there every week, but I definately don't wanna miss this either.

I used to visit Volo back when they were half the size they are now. I sh*t you not, I remember when they had 2 puke green 68 Hemi Plymouth Satillite coupes, each selling for 33,000 each!! Was there around a year ago - and man - it's changed!!
ill probly end up going, i dont know since its the 20th. the 19th is a Dashboard Confesional concert that i will be attending. if i show i will have friends (not thirdgeners) ...and everyone DONT PAY ATTENTION TO MY PAINT JOB!!!...or interior,rims,engine....
Right now, my answer is- I won't be going. This may change, it probably won't. See, if I keep spending all my time doing things other than working to save up money for my car, or working on my car, then I'll be driving that frickin Blazer until I'm 85. And THAT is not a good thing. Besides, looks like too long of a drive for me. Like I said before, personally I think like 5 people will show up, maybe not even that, so I'm not gunna waste 40 bucks on gas.

Well, the LeMans should be painted by then so I'll probably drive that. If not I will just drive my truck unless I can get a ride with someone...
