I still need a 350 complete shortblock in good shape with either standard or .040" bore max. Need no more than 9.7:1 CR with 64cc heads. Anyone has anything or know of anything let me know please!!!!

350
yeah...I have a 350 out of a 78 truck. It is a two bolt main and all together. All I have done is pulled the heads off and had them done. I also pulled the oil pan and got a new one- I would sell it for $300 if you came and got it in Iowa City, Iowa.-

You do realize you could get a running junkyard 350 for the same price, and add rings, bearings and seals at a minumum.
Try Sturtevant auto salvage....I was real close to buying a complete Caddy 500 for 300 bucks from them...complete with a 30 day warranty. And they would run it for me on a stand!! I'm sure a 350 would be at least the same price. Maybe cheaper.
I'd never go through the hassle of just installing a short block w/o going over it first. Too much work later on to find out you have a bad bearing....
Just my opinion....flame suit on!!!

Yeah i thought about getting one from the junkyard- didn't know they offered a warranty or anything, i'll go check some out around here. The thing that drew me away from them is that (like most engines there i would guess) if it needs to be rebuilt, it will most likely need to be machined/bored, and then i would have to spend another $300 on pistons and all that little stuff that adds up to a lot. Do you think i should just get one from a junkyard? I'm really on a pretty tight budget so im trying to get my 380hp combo the cheapest way possible but still be reliable. thanks for the help!!
Im near pontiac in michigan. I have a 020 4 bolt 2 peice seal block rods and pistons.
The rods are stock pinks with ARP bolts.the pistons at 020 over are TRW forged flaptops with 4v relifes. With 62cc heads it 9.8:1
motor died of flat tappet cam death ugh. but its since been diassebmled and cleaned and stoed for a long while now. A crank kit ( i have a good core ) and it could be up and running no trouble.

I know what you mean about getting one from a junkyard though, and some may need to be rebuilt. Not all the engines they have are like that - some were pulled out of cars that were totalled - and they ran fine before that. I'd ask them about something along those lines with relatively low milage. Just an idea. I PM'd you the phone number.
Good luck - but 380 HP will be hard to get cheap....or at least 380 RELIABLE HP....

ok...
I hope I clear up so questions....
The motor is out of my girlfriend's uncle's pickup. The motor was rebuilf is 1997, and then parked in 1998 because he got a new truck. Unfortunately the truck rotted away with time so last year I took the motor out. I pulled the heads and oil pan to hopefully get a sense of the shape of the motor. While I am sure the motor has less than 20,000 miles, everything still had oil, no steel shavings, or rust. The oil pan was removed and I am sure that it would run fine. If you don't want it, that is fine......but here in Iowa I have checked around and it is harder to find a newer running 350 for less than $450. Motor has a new oil pan and heads are bare but redone. Can give you those or stock heads that have been removed whole.
I hope I helped-

Well
I have a 383 short block for sale. 10.9 compression with clevitte bearings and scat crank. I have over 1000 in rotating assembly and 800 in machining. Its been decked, cleaned, magnafluxed, blanaced, polished crank and bored. It is a 4 bolt out of 1971 Cargo van. The block was in awesome condition before the stroker kit and I am rebuilding it again before I sell it. Comes with pan and a brand new timing chain. I will throw the balancer in but I think the chrome timing cover leaks from the crank seal. I think I might get a plin jane timing cover. But will be willing to part with her fresh on the stand for 1,000 bucks which isn't a bad deal.

oh yeah
It also ran a best of last year of a 12.22. This including driving up to the track having five minutes to race and driving home after two trips down the quater, but doing a power steering delete, and electric water pump, she got in to the 11's.
