Super Chevy Shows
I am trying to find out how many people have heard about the new catagories for the Super Chevy Shows and what everyone thinks of them. First, there is no pre-registration allowed. All cars are being dumped into the same class catagory. That means all Camaros will be judged by years regardless of whether it is restored stock original, street machine or fully modified. I do know members of our club have models that fit into each of these classes and will not be going to the Super Chevy shows in our area because of this. I have been in contact with Super Chevy and they said the comments they are getting are favorable. Let me know what you think.
never heard of it but you say this is a new thing for this year?
i personally am against group classifications because there is no way certain cars in one class can compete with others...say stock/restored vs. modified/full show.
if this is in fact the case i won't bother going to the superchevy near me either.....5 hrs out of the way to go against a 69 camaro is a waste of time for me. however, the publication benefits and exposure can sometimes be worth it, just depends on where you are during your project and what you expect out of it.
more often then not i get more satisfaction out of just showing the car and meeting new people then a plaque/award i'll end up storing in a box somewhere.

I do not understand. Are you saying that you prefer to be judged with original, street and modified Camaros as long as they are all 82 thru 92. That otherwise you would have to compete with some nice cars. This is what I do not get. Would you not prefer to compete with the 82-92 Camaros in the same class (stock, street, modified) as yours. What real chance does someone who has a mint condition low milage 90 Camaro convertible that is spotlessly clean have against a modified 89 IROCZ with a blower, powercoated undercarriage, custom interior and chrome everything. This is what I feel is unfair. For smaller shows, this sometimes has to be the case but for a show the size of Super Chevy, this should not be the case.

this is how its listed.......
CAMARO - Sponsored by Rick’s First Generation Camaro
1967 - 1969
1970 - 1981
1982 - 1992
1993 & Newer
so yes i could see some concern as i wouldn't have wanted to go against a car like miine 7 years ago....however i highly doubt there are going to be that many thirdgens there and as much as trophies are fun it's better to go against the nicest you can so that if you do win it means something rather then not. too many cars today get trophies that really shouldn't anyhow.....just because a car has low mileage is even more the reason it should be in just as good shape as a modified well taken care of car. they do have full all out show classes which will keep a average street camaro from going against someone who has everything powdercoated like you described. as bad as it sounds it's the business and you can't expect to go up against top notch cars with a high mileage daily driver. just have fun and enjoy the weekend, you'll have a better time and if you happen to win something it will be that much better.

bottom line is that a car is going to be judged as what it is....
a stock camaro with 2,000 miles is going to be judged as a car that should be damn near the same shape it was off the car room floor. a modified camaro like mine with over a 100k on it, gets taken to the track, driven almost 10k miles every summer, is going to be judged as a driven car, even if the cars are in the same class. it might not be 100% fair, or exactly how other people want it, but im going to have fun, not complain about how the cars are going to be judged.
however i can also see the other side of the story, if someone has a endless amount of money invested in there car, and only gets drove from the garage to the trailer, and then from the trailer to their parking spot at shows, and winning 1st place is the only reason they built the car, then i can see why they could be upset.....but thats not me
i know how you feel Jeff about missing out because of a wedding, i have a wedding September 25th.....the same day as M9

ouch....however superchevy in my book is much more important as it's a requirement for my sponsors. if i don't make it to us 131 that means i have to hit one up in columbus or joliet and i don't want to go to joliet.
I've decided not to attend this year simply because of the changes in classes. It seems to me they are only interested in how they can make even more money. I understand it's a business but I've noticed more problems every year and I've been to Joliet every year they've been there. I've done very well there but this year I think I'm going to go the Fred Gibb show in LaHarpe.
